All those goons saying Bekele is done can eat their words. Next year, double Gold in London. As a Brit I'd love Farah to win but Bekele is unbeatable when fully fit and another double in the 5 + 10k will finally cement him as the GOAT.
Incredible run by Rupp, kudos to that man!
I don't know, I think it was all some kind of ploy...
Amazing indeed. Congrads all around
Math question... what pace is 26:48? 4:10?

Remember when roger bannister broke 4 and then all the other runners that were psychologically incapable to do it before ran sub-4? Rupp's sub 27 run is impressive but there is no doubt that solinsky should be credited with this victory for US running. Rupp seems to have been held back mentally until this huge break through performance. Brilliant non-the-less.
There is no doubt Solinsky should be given credit for this?!? Are you f**king serious or have you lost your god d***n mind?
I am so Happy for the guy! Just a unbelievable time....the kid as it! props to Sal!
4 17 pace

If I recall, salasar talked of Rupp running times like 12:55 and 26:50 before Ritz blasted 12:56 and everyone thought it was nonsense. He said they were aiming for 2012 and that he was on track but it wouldn't happen over night. This was several years ago now (2009?) so I don't think Solinsky running 26:59 really did it. Ritz also talked of running under 26:50 after his 12:56.
Those guys have always believed and didn't need to hit a time just to know they could do it.

4:18.5
Is a world lead (some 30 seconds off his WR) really on the same level as Rupp's AR for a black Page on this site? I know the king has returned, but show Rupp a little more appreciation!
there are 20 women running in the 1500, rofl.

Rupp hasn't had the opportunity for a fast time since Solinsky set the record. The earthquake cancelled the New Zealand attempt this spring and his allergy condition kept him out of the Prefontaine race. Daegu and USATF were unpaced tactical championship races plus the weather in Daegu didn't favor fast times.

You know people would be all like "wahhh, waahhh, what about so and so, what about the guy in last, he Pr'd, you're racist."
The massive PR for the the dude in second was honestly quite impressive.
"Rupp could've won too"???? Everyone in the race could've won but they didn't. Bekele had plenty left in the tank. The world doesn't operate on "wouldas, shouldas and couldas"
I am very glad that I was wrong about Rupp, that he had peaked earlier in the season and wouldn't have it here. This is a far better result than his performances at World's, so obviously he rested, sharpened, and ran a tremendous race. To break Sol's AR by 11.6 seconds and pr by 20 seconds is awesome, and he finished third in a Diamond League race as well. Great job and congratulations to him! 26:48 is something else. And great to see Bekele back as well. That's a nice feeling heading into his buildup to the Olympics next year.
I've said it before, Rupp is the quiet Juggernaught of U.S. distance running, each year making the incremental changes that take him a notch further, staying healthy and motivated, and now crushing very stout AR's.
No one should doubt anything Salazar predicts from now on.
We have to note that none of the medalists from Daegu were here.
What would Jeilan and Farah have done here?
Jeilan chose to run the 10,000 the other day at the All-Africa Games.
video anywhere!?
Congrats to Rupp, America's newest white Kenyan!
the reason that I say this was not like world's is that while in all three cases (five, ten at world's and ten here), he was blown away in the final lap or so, but the difference is that the pace here was much faster.
26:48!!!! Wow, congrats Rupp, awesome race and outstanding time.
