Before you even get to Rupp I would like somebody to convince me that anyone in field is going under 27 seconds. None of the WC medal winners are in the race. In fact the only one in this race who finished ahead of Rupp at WC is Kirui who finished 1 second ahead of Rupp with a PB of 27:25.
It's pretty unlikely that anyone in the field is going under 27 seconds. Sub 27 minutes is a distinct possibility. The key difference between this event and Daegu are
A)
http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/graph/BEXX0005?begHour=14&begDay=258#hhViewB) If the meet doesn't have pace setters lined up take the field through 7k or so at steady ~27 minute pace, it's likely that Salazar and company will arrange for them independently.
C) Bett and Tanui have run 26:50ish recently, Kipchoge is certainly capable of it, Kirui and Rupp are probably capable of 27 plus or minus a few seconds under ideal conditions (see A and B), and who knows what Bekele might do.
D) If Rupp wants the AR, and I think he's more concerned about time than a tactical placing this meet, he'll be willing to go to the front and drive the pace if it lags as he did when Solinski got the record.
