We do our warmups at 7:00 pace. Rarely stretch. First run of the season was "sprint" 100-200-300-400-300-200-100-
100-200-300-400 with recovery supposed to be at "mile pace" (despite the workout being about 3k long). Obviously no one got close to that. He questioned the effort of me and a few other runners, saying that he expected us to be faster after 3 years. I managed to keep in the fact that his coaching had me literally unable to run for 6 months a year ago and 3 months the year before that. Despite teams consistently 20-40 men strong, we have never sent a single runner to states. I think that there may be a reason that we run like all-staters the first half of the season and then crash and burn when we get to districts. I've read through a few textbooks on sports physiology, and find myself amazed how far off you can get from proper training. Maybe it's because he played football in highschool?
Bitchfit over.
