Pure MF Faith and just win baby.
What did he do in hs to break alan webb's record? Sometimes the athlete is the reason. Ever think of that? The guy is a stud.

He never broke any (noteworthy) Webb records.
Did you see his Penn Relays race? Did you see his 1k indoors? Pretty damn good. Yes, he is doing extremely well in college but don't think it is some magical workouts. The guy was a ridiculous kicker and still is. The only reason he didnt run faster in hs is because he did not have to. A monkey could coach Robbie Andrews.

Well he then he broke an un-noteworthy one - the indoor 1000. It's still pretty badass, 2:22.

30-40mpw on average, never more than 50mpw.
I'm not sure what he does now, but in high school he liked to do what he called his "magic workout." I think it started with a 100m sprint, then 110, then 120 and kept moving up like that to a 200m sprint and then moved back down to 100m the same way. I'm not sure how much rest he took in between. He said that was what gave him his awesome kick in high school.
Andrews breaking Webb's 1000m Record is less-significant being that Alan Webb set the record on a flat track after "jogging" a 4:12 1600m an hour prior and still being able to run 2:23.
A shaved ape could coach this kid. I was at the armory when he set the indoor record 800 record. Even my wife realize she was watching something special.

your wife could coach robbie andrews? Weird.
Anyway, I guess an ape could coach Manzano? Jacob Hernandez? Could an ape coach a team to the Penn Relay 4x8, 4xmile, and d-med titles all in the same year? How bout coach a 1-2 in the NCAA mile? How bout 2 straight 7th place finishes at the NCAA XC meet with 3 scholarships? Hmmm, I wish I was coached by that ape.
Even though Andrews is great, you shouldnt say anything that would imply that Vig hasnt been the best Mid Distance coach in the country for the past 5 years because that would be wrong.
I heard that he is off to Oregon as a transfer :)

Yes, but it's very intense. We're not talking about 30mpw of jogging.
Yeah but ive heard he hits like 65-70 during xc so dont you think he has him that high during winter base as well??
First of all, he did not say that his wife could coach Andrews, he said that his wife realized that she was watching something special.
Second, he said SHAVED ape, you appear to have broadened that to infer that he meant just any old ape. Shaved apes are indeed rare. Possibly as rare as quality mid distance coaches.

Did Vig make Andrews,Manzano and Hernandez or did they make him? Most coaches will not have the opportunity to work with that kind of talent.
Besides that it doesn't matter if he is a great coach because he is done with college coaching. He had a golden opportunity and he blew it within 3 years. No college would touch him with a 10 foot pole.
Sure, all those great athletes made Vig, he didnt do anything. How bout when a team of all Texas kids beat the international Arkansas team at Penn? How bout the walk-ons and kids who went to Texas on books who became all-americans? They made Vig right? How has Hernandez done now that VIg isnt his coach? He made Vig right? Virginia never had an individual ACC xc champion in its history, Vig had 3 in 4 years. They made Vig right?
You are a hater! Stop hating on Vig. You are jealous of his success or your team had their butts kicked by a Vig team. Stop hating.
Since you are such a hater, I'll let you know this: VIg is also richer than you, your family, and all your friends. HAHAHAHA! Hate on that.

You are right, most coaches will not have the opportunity to work with that kind of talent because they cant recruit like Vig. Half of a coaches success (at least) depends on thier ability to recruit. Along with being a great coach, Vig is GREAT recruiter.
Vig better send a thank you card to Jason Dunn. The kids recruited by Dunn made the core of the XC program at UVA. The kids recruited by Vig have struggled to make an impact on the program.
