I'm afraid that stat is correct. Google it. I found one link that said it went up from 145 to 151 a month (albeit back in last quarter of 2008).

Even if that stat was a misprint, you think that that is in some way damaging to fox news? It was an error, not relating to politics, or anything even remotely relevant. What's your point?
Obviously whatever sample they're using is completely biased, or just bad reporting, because there's NO WAY that's true. It's POSSIBLE the mean time the television is on per month in American households is 143 hours, but even that seems absurd.
There is no way to tell if there is one individual watching the television or a series of people turning it on throughout the day. Either way, nothing to be up in arms about. Unless of course you are looking for any reason to trash a news station that presents an opposing point of view.
That stat sounds entirely correct. I would say that most americans come home from work, throw the tv on, and just let it run til they go to bed.
I don't know many families anymore that shut off the tube to sit down and eat dinner unless it is a special occasion.
You have far too much faith in humanity my friend.
Wow you are all idiots.
Neilson and Arbitron's methods have been through decades of testing and scrutiny. They are correct. The average American watches TV 4.5 hours a day. There are may Americans who watch TV 10-12 hours a day. This is a very believable stat

Depends on how they define "watch." If they're talking about time spent actually sitting down and devoting full attention to the television, then that seems high. If they're just talking about time that the television is on and a person is present in the room, those numbers aren't surprising to me.
A lot of people pretty much always have the t.v. on as background. If an hour spend doing housework or studying with the television on is counted as an hour spent watching t.v., then there are probably quite a few people who "watch" 8+ hours a day.
I find it hilarious that liberals scapegoat Fox News' bias for ruining all the ignorant voters. You can't go anywhere, even mainstream hollywood without encountering sensationalist liberal propoganda. Fox is one programme.
After work I take a one hour dump, play video games for an hour, have sex with my girlfriend for an hour, drink two beers, and finally watch 30 mins of tv before bed. I get to be one of the old school Americans who brags that I only watch 30 mins of TV...
I despise Fox as much as anyone, but I am absolutely certain that number is correct.
Wake up put on local news weather traffic station say about 30 mins while getting out the door.
Come home from work catch a half hour of local and another 30 mins of international news.
watch prime Time TV 8 to 11-
Watch the 11pm news
5 hours weekdays=25
Week end watch a couple/three ballgames, catch a TV movie with the wife, watch Norm and Tom build a house reruns and a half hour of food porn like Claire Robinson gets one to 8 week end hours with no problem and that is with no primetime weekend viewing counted in.
33 hours a week time 4.33 weeks in a month- about 143 hours a month.
Or you could watch the last two minutes of one NBA game- that usually takes about 143 hours.
