Heard the album -- utter crap.
Here's the new video -- don't tell me this isn't the most obnoxious, narcissistic-pretentious crap you've ever seen.

Sorry you don't get it.
Don't worry. New Killers, Coldplay and Nickleback albums will be out soon.
You can mock all you like -- no sincere person can tell me that this album is anything more that self-indulgent, pretentious crap.
Radiohead did something pretentious? That is really out of character for them (note the sarcasm)

They make music they like based on the influences they have. They don't care what you or the music industry thinks, which is exactly why they released the album the way they did.
I think this album is marvelous. I'm sorry you wrote it off after listening to half of one song on youtube through your laptop speakers.
Is the new Cake out yet?
I preordered it, thought it didn't come out until tomorrow?

Not the case, the entire thing has been listened to -- it's just a giant bore. "Give up the Ghost" is at least SOMEWHAT melodic, but the rest of it is just mind numbing crap.
what a complete and total wanker! it's a load of bollocks.
great new wave elevator music
How does it compare to "In Rainbows"? As for Radiohead and being pretentious, yeah they can be and Thom is a jackass in real life but they make some amazing music. That's all I care about when I put my headphones on and listen.
It's not very similar to In Rainbows, although some of the texturing is reminiscent. Lots of dub and Flying Lotus influence. Good direction for them. Did we really need another In Rainbows?
What makes you say Thom is a jackass in real life? He just seems like a guy who is really concerned with the state of the world.
most people who seem concerned with the state of the world are jackasses

I'm not talking about his environmentalist efforts, I'm just talking about the way he interacts with people. Just watch "Meeting People is Easy" and you get the sense he just doesn't like dealing with people and in some of the interviews I've seen with him he has been a straight up jackass.
Can someone explain what makes this song pretentious?
I like it, and it is somewhat similar to in rainbows.

"Meeting People is Easy" is 15 years old. He might've grown up a little since then. I love the part where they don't get in to the club and someone tells him to write a song about it.
He might be a jackass. I don't know him. I was just wondering what made you think he was.
Agree 100%. I wasted $9 on this garbage.
Everyone's a critic. You think the album is pretentious rubbish. To me it sounds awesome. The other difference betwix you and I is that I'm not gonna go start a thread about how I think the new Taylor Swift album sucks, because a lot of people like it and they don't give a shit what I think. I know that much, so I keep my mouth shut. You, on the other hand, believe your criticism of the new Radiohead album is worthy of a new thread on a running website. Talk about pretentious. And you're not even a hugely famous and influential musician. I'll allow a guy like Thom York a little pretentiousness. Some nobody like you though? It's really irritating.
i kinda like running wrote:

Agreed 100%. I could understand if someone else started the thread about how awesome the album is and then you came in and said you didn't like it. But why start a thread trashing an album? Are you a music critic? If so, please provide a link to your review on a legitimate web site. If not, then wait to say how much you hate it until the discussion has been started.
By the way, I spent $48 on this, and I think it will be worth it when I get my newspaper album.
