The University of Oregon agrees with you. They successfully petitioned the NCAA a few years ago to exclude football from calculations of gender equity based on the fact there are no comparable women's sports and without football there would be no financial support for ANY other team. Don't know why there isn't more discussion of this as it would level the playing field for all sports.
Not coincidentally, Oregon became a powerhouse in almost all sports without the stranglehold of "equity" around their necks. They are also one of the few schools with limitless cash in this economy.
We liberals have been trying for two dacades to get rid off all male athletic programs. This is about time. All male athletics should be dropped.
