Part of this decline springs from the attitude prevalent at the institution itself. The level of (unwarranted) arrogance is extreme.
When interviewing there, I mentioned I ran. The interviewer asked, "Are you any good?". The tone indicating, "If you are not any good, don't waste my time". This person was not an athlete, so not coming from any sort of informed opinion.
GTown was going to be a backup school, so I decided to pass.
This 2nd rate approach to outsiders and strangers is typical of the university, the hospital, and the institution backing all of it. It does not surprise me at all that a "good" coach turns into a "bad" coach after exposure to that environment.
