Anyone have an app to log training with weekly, monthly and yearly totals, etc. for the DROID? I've seen some that have you carry your phone and use GPS but I don't want that just a simpler log.
Thanks.

Yes, I use it. I also use the "I never get laid" log when I ramp up my training during the build.
Why not use the log of beginnertriathlete.com it is not an app and yes you need internet connection but it is just plain good.
At least check it out before you judge these internet logs. At the end of the week you can print your week journal and physically put it safely away. Other option is to safe it as a pdf.
Check out Handy Runner and Running Ahead at runningahead.com
I use Running Ahead but I don't have an Android phone so I couldn't tell you any details about Handy Runner.
How about if I made one? I'm a programmer, and was considering the idea of making such an app for Android about a month but didn't think it would have enough users. The fact that you've mentioned what I was thinking is interesting.
To anyone else, would you use such an app? What features would you want to see the most?

I would use it. A pace per mile after you enter your run would be pretty much my only wish.
you would get alot of users if done correct!
The best running log I ever used was RunPlan for Palm OS. If someone would make a version of it for Android, that would be the perfect program.
Okay, I think I'll start creating an Android app. Could take a month or so though. Currently however, I'm actually building a running journal website that's almost done (with course measurer), so I'll try and tie it into that.
I've noticed four major issues with online running logs lately.
A) They're too complex. Sure it'd be nice to track the "stickiness" of the humidity every single day and the lunch you ate, but I think a clean interface with the basic options would suit most people better, with the ability to add more entry stats in a settings area.
B) They're too slow. Everything you click on requires a new page load. Granted, some websites aren't like this, but a running log in 2010 should be snappy like Gmail.
C) They're overloaded with advertisements. Not only that, but the ads are ugly and in the most inconvenient locations. For my log, I'm using only Google text ads on the side of the page, and I'm thinking of making it ad-free for college students and educators (anyone with a .edu address).
D) They require ridiculous registrations. I don't think anyone needs to know what city I live in or my full name for a (free) running log. My sign in procedure has the option for Facebook Connect (you don't have to register at all) or if you don't use Facebook, a simple email address and password.
Yeah, I know this is a bit long, but since I was getting replies, I thought I'd throw this out there to get feedback on as well (anything that bugs you with the log you currently use?).
Now I just need to download the Android SDK...
You rock!
Here's what I want:
1) Daily mileage and time with comments.
2) Weekly totals of mileage and pace and yearly total miles.
3) Downland-able (perhaps in excel format).
4) Maybe place for shoes worn.
This would be awesome. Thanks or considering the possibility and donating you time.
Can do. I'll make a post on letsrun when my site is in public beta (1-3 weeks). Excel format could be a little tricky but I'll read up on it.
Can tab or comma delineated work if that is easier?
I just like to keep a copy and like that ability to do other calculations if I want to later.
Yeah, CSV would be pretty easy to do.
Hi,
I know this is an old post but did you ever get round to creating the runners log app?
Cheers

I give this comment a +1 million.
RunPlan was by far the best and most convenient running log I have ever used, and with Palm it synced up with my computer so it was regularly backed up. Unfortunately, Palm OS couldn't keep up with the rest of the smartphones and the RunPlan people have never migrated their program to a newer smartphone OS.
For anyone planning to write a running log for Android (or iOS for that matter), look at RunPlan for a great model of what running log should be.
I currently use Runningahead.com and Handy Runner, which works okay. Runningahead is a good webbased log and I like the way you can graph and analyze your data. Handy Runner is mainly one of those apps for using your phone as a GPS to measure your run, which I have no use for since I never run with my phone. I don't think there's actually any business connection between Runningahead and Handy Runner - Handy Runner just uses Runningahead as the site it backs up to.
Handy Runner does, however, have the ability to upload the runs you've measured using Handy Runner to Runningahead.com (which I have never tried) and also lets you enter data manually into Handy Runner, which you can then upload into your online Runningahead log. Unfortunately, Handy Runner doesn't let you enter data for all of the fields that the online Runningahead log has, including weather and any text comments. To me this limits its usefulness, especially since if you have an Android phone, you also have a webbrowser and can access the Runningahead website directly thru your browser. Runningahead isn't especially well adapted to a mobile browser, but it's certainly possible to enter data directly from an Android phone.
Anyway, for me the ideal Android running log app would be something that would do what RunPlan used to do, but it would also need some way to back up your data wirelessly so you don't lose everything if you lose your phone. Being able to upload all of your data fields to a site like Runningahead would probably be the simplest solution and would let people access their data from any webbrowser without their phone.
