I met Ryan when he was a Soph at Whitman. He was then and is now a humble, self effacing person. When he was injured his last 2 years of HS, he still supported the other runners on the team. He went through a tough time but still didn' t throw in the towel. In fact he appreciated the ability to even run 1 step more than he ever had.
So I would question anything other than he wanted a better situation than Iona for his reason to transfer.
At iona when ryan got injured he stopped coming to practice and never supported his team mates at all. he was a terrible captain. team will be better off with out him next year.
