Even if they get all those guys, it doesn't guarantee them anything. While Lukas and the Rosas are great at the prep level, none of them are at the same level as a bunch of the top college guys. Yes, they could develop into superstars at the collegiate level, but that takes a lot of hard training, luck and staying injury free. My big concern would be with Joe Rosa's and Lukas' feet, as both have issues there.

If Stanford gets the Rosas and Lukas, they will be a great team, but to ever think that they'll match the success of the UTEP team is going a bit overboard.

I could have sworn the title of this thread was CROSS COUNTRY so what do the field eventers have to do with X-Country? You shouldn't get smart with your comments about genius level intellects when your just making yourself look extremely stupid!

Stanford, like UVA, Princeton and Duke has NO NEED to worry about scholarships for cross country athletes because they get kids who are smart. Period.

Thats the reason why those schools are also good at soccer and swimming and other sports. THEY CAN GET AS MANY SCHOLARSHIPS AS POSSIBLE. I'm not saying they are all athletic scholarships, there is a limit on those. But there is no limit on academic or private scholarships, and that is how these teams not only survive but THRIVE.

Yes I agree with the fact that Joe and Jim Rosa, Lukas Verzbicas and Edward Cheserek are incredible. And a cat like Joe Bosshard from Colorado, who will most likely be in the Top 20 at NC's, who will not be contending for the title in 2010 would crush these guys over the NCAA Championship 10k Race.

But yes the talent that those 4 runners have is outstanding. Let's see what that shapes up to collegiately. From my experience running in D1, I found that three factors separated top notch distance runners from national title contenders and I think that those factors are coaching, durability to train consistently at high mileage for a handful of years and how strong a runner is mentally.

Remember there close to a hundred D1 runners who can throw down a mile in 4:04 - 4:08 and close to a hundred who can also run between 14:00 and 14:15 for 5k (the NCAA D1 outdoor track and field regional qualifying list shows that). And most of the people who can hit those times also run XC, so off of talent alone the Rosas, Verzbicas and Cheserek may not be instant studs in D1 XC.

So we shall see what happens with those 4 and off of sheer talent they all have the potential to be National Title contenders.

Mousa's grades aren't good enough for Stanford so that's one less for them

Let me help you out. First, I believe you meant to write "you're", as in 'you are.' And finally, when you push the 'quote' button to someone's post, it allows you to directly respond to and if needed, correct their information/mistake. In the case of the post that was responded to, a correction was needed to let them know that Arkansas has ALWAYS had talent other than distance runners-dating as far back to their first triple crown in the 1984-85 season, A SUBJECT(balanced teams) BROUGHT UP BY NUMEROUS PREVIOUS POSTERS! Now, in your personal case, that mistake probably came at conception-we all know the best part of you ran down your mama's ass crack, soooo, maybe we can talk about retroactive abortion or some other option if we are to fix your current problem. Stanford going 1, 2, 3 and all five in the top 10 is SICK! Who got the offical victory as all three Stanford runners decided to try and cross final line together?

Ammar Moussa is looking at Oklahoma State, He's visited Cal and Oregon on official visits so obviously those two schools, UNC, Portland, and Colorado. In no specific order besides Colorado and Portland they're lower on his list.

Very strong showing for Stanford top 3 but how will Stanford top 3 fare against David McNeil (NAz) and defending NCAA champion Sam Chelanga (Lib)?

The Rosa twins are going to Stanford and I heard Edward Cheserek is looking to attend summer school to graduate early. I'm sure if Cheserek wouldn't have to have the same GPA other non athlete students maybe required to gain a scholarship to Stanford.

Sam Chelanga should be able to dismantle Stanford top 3 and too bad we didn't get to see Chris Derrick hammer it from the gun or even try to win. Will be interesting to see if that groups stays together at Regionals where the competition will be much tougher and just how fit Chris Derrick is in comparison to last year.

Will David McNeil of Northern Arizona be competing against Stanford at regionals?

David McNeil just won the Big Sky meet in 21:28 with Diego Estrada 2nd in 21:30 for 8km. The course was obivous WAY SHORT. I guess Sam Chelanga and Chris Derrick would have run 21:01 and 21:09 on the Big Sky course.

Seems Sam Chelanga is rounding into shape as he trounced the competition at the Big South meet by over 30 seconds! Can't wait to see Sam Chelanga, Chris Derick, and David McNeil as they meet for War 2.

No dictionary I have lists ergo as archaic. Just because a word isnt used much doesnt mean it isnt acceptable in modern language. I have heard it used many times throughout my life.

"Oft" is listed as archaic (one dictionary says 'archaic or poetic) in all of my dictionaries.
