Stanford men's x-country team has two great new additions for next year. The Rosa twins have committed to Stanford. Does anyone know which lucky University will must likely land Luke V?

I had heard that Stanford was his top choice during the summer. But I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Oregon, which I heard was another of his top choices.
If Luke V joins the Rosa twins and go to Stanford and then they get the Sophmore wunderkid Edward Cheserek Stanford upcoming running program would have the making of becoming legendary!
2012-2014 Stanford could have the best cross country team in NCAA history! How do they afford so many talented runners on one college team isn't there a limit on scholarships?
1. Focus only on Cross Country.
2. Give up on team track and field.
Ergo, XC and Track scholarships all go to mostly distance runners.
Oregon works to field as much of a balanced team as they can.

It doesn't matter where you get your points to win National Championships. Arkansas did it for many years with just 1500m, 5000m, and 10000m runners before finally recruiting some sprinters and field events later in their domination.
If Stanford continue to impressive recruiting and eventually add Luke V and then Edward Cheserek to their team, they can rival any team in NCAA history with just distance runners!
Of course there's a limit on athletic scholarships. The limit is 12.6 scholarships for men's track and field/XC. If you give each guy 0.6 of a full scholarship value, you get 21 guys. Consequently, there are 21 events in T&F.
Anyway, if you start giving guys 0.3 of a full scholarship, you get 42 guys. That's a decent team.
But wait, there's more! Academic money. Stanford is not going to recruit idiots. They'll fail out of school. Despite its overall athletic success, Stanford does not recruit your typical Prop 48 dumbass. They recruit top notch academic AND athletic kids. Add academic money in there, and you can spread those 12.6 around a lot.
Furthermore, when a place accumulates as much talent and success as a Stanford and Oregon have done, what top recruit WOULDN'T want to go there. Forget the money, I'd be a friggin walkon with that team if I thought the atmosphere, coaching, and resources would make me become all I could be as a runner.

Only if they score less than 17 at the NCAA XC Championship.

I don't think any top D1 program will recruit LV so long as his aspirations in the tri remain

Arkansas always had LJ/TJ guys to go with their distance guys. I'm being picky, I know, but McDonnell would have a lot fewer championships without Dick Booth's athletes.
Oregon is different. If they never win another NCAA title but get a big boost in merchandising and home ticket sales, they'll take it. No one else can make money that way. A one-dimensional team doesn't support those goals.

Why would any program recruit a kid who competes in the tri. LV has made it clear on numerous occasions that he aspires to be an olympic triathloner before he becomes a world class runner. He puts the tri above his running. How would any program like it if he got injured doing tri stuff. He would have his own training routine apart from the rest of the team. Expect this isn't like Galen because at least Galen was running, LV wouldn't be doing that.

I think I remember reading somewhere that one of the californians, I think it was Gedyon, was going to a school in california, can't remember which one though but I know it wasn't stanford or UCLA
I don't know about 17 points, but Stanford in '03 put five guys in top-10 for 24, outscoring the rest of the NCAA combined!
