i'm a freshman, i'll be soph next year.
i'm hoping to get to 50mpw running and 100mpw of cycling.
most i've ever done so far is 35mpw, so obviously i'm stepping it up alot.
^ and my PR is a measly 18:39

120ish. 18 y/o. 4:28 mile. 15:43 5k.
I had the same idea, going from 35 mpw running and 111 mpw cycling to 70 mpw running and 206 cycling
Age: early 20's MPW: 60ish, PR: 13:50's, 29 low
I was doing between 50 to 80 mpw and racing in the low 18s. I got in maybe 1.5 quality workouts per week (1 one week, 2 the next week). I'm currently running about 40 mpw and getting in 2.5 quality workouts (2 one week, 3 the next). The 40 mpw at higher quality is kicking my @$$. I definitely feel "fitter," but it's a balance between feeling skinny and ready to race on one day and then feeling like I've been mauled by a bear on my recovery days. I won't race for a few weeks yet, though, so I can't say if it's been making much of a difference in my performances.

my 21 min 5k (after dying at 2 miles at low 6 pace) makes me feel like a real slug. maybe i need to speed up my mileage (mid 50s building towards 100)
I wonder what % of the posters on this thread are either lying about 1) their mileage numbers 2) their PR's or 3) both. Probably a solid 60-70%.
I'm not lying!

This one here...maybe that big mileage WILL get your 5k time down more in-line with your current mile time.
Is there a minimum pace you guys would recommend before upping the mileage past 60 a week?
Not to me, whether you're a 13 minute or 26 minute 5ker, slow easy miles are good for you, no matter how slow your pace is just add more of them.
