Anyone know which shoes have the least heel lift?
The 790 is basically an XC shoe with a rockplate. I have a pair that I use for trail races and I love them. Never thought to train in them though.
I tend to go with lighweight trainers to begin with.
another vote for the 790. awesome shoe. it definitely holds up well as a training shoe if you are doing a lot of your runs on trails. i've even worn them for 5-10k road races, but i'm probably in the minority on that. they are CHEAP too.
Where can I even find the 790 in a mens size 10? DO they still make this shoe?
I got mine for about $35 at 6PM.com. They run small so order 1/2 size larger than usual. I train in them, havent raced in them yet but might try a marathon in them soon. I insert the Powerstep Pinnacle insole and they work fine, nice flexible sole rather than the usual stiff sole but you get good support with the Powerstep Pinnacle.
Nike Lunar Trainers, Lunar Elite, and Lunar Swift have different upper materials than the Lunar Racer. They are mostly soft mesh, not Flywire. Also, the Lunar Racer's upper has been altered to increase comfort in the Lunar Racer 2.

Dont go near the Nike Lunar series... the upper has an awful fit. Brooks Launch is prob' going to be your best bet + plus they offer a lot of miles for a lightweight trainer.
I almost forgot, they "replaced" the 790 with the 100.
Don P. any chance you've tried them? I know Anton Krupika uses them and he's an ultra minimalist.
Dude,, wait til Feb.1st and nab a pair of Brooks new shoe. The Green Silence.. 6.9 ounces, racing fit, and totally green!!!! this shoe is slick!!!
Any more info on this shoe? how is it in the forefoot and whats the heel-to-toe drop?
This shoe does look good. I gotta check to see if my local stores are gonna have it in February.
The midsole slope is 18mm/10mm. The forefoot is supple through toe off and optimal for a more forward footstike. Hope this helps!
That helps but how does it fit/feel compared to the Racer ST4? Thank you.
The ST is a stability racer. As a result, it will be more rigid through the midfoot and contain about 2 oz extra weight as a result of the medial post.

Is the toebox as roomy as the toebox in the racer? I'm asking all these questions because it looks like I'm going to have to order it online.
Thank you.
Then order it from a place that offers free shipping and free return shipping, numbnuts.
Ordered from runningwarehouse.com, after using code CP20 total shipped came to just under $85. You can order it form them over the phone even though it won't be "officially" released and sold online till Feb 1.
Another shoe to try if the Green Silence doesn't work out is the Asics Hyperspeed. I've been using them for a few months now and love them. They seem to be on the flatter side of shoes around 7 oz. They are a bit more soft than other flats, but I like it. They also are on the wider side. The Adizero Rocket would be a choice if you like it firmer. Real firm midsole, heel feels really flat, rubber outsole for durability, but forefoot doesn't seem to be on the wider end (I went .5 size up and don't have any complaints).
It's available now, check it out...
