I've recently gotten used to wearing Brooks Racers for mileage (used to be my flats) and Mizuno Wave Universe 3s for workouts and races. What would be a good shoe to replace the Brooks Racers?
Looking for something a bit lighter, that still has a wide toe box and thats flexible.

brooks launch sounds about right. they are around 8-9oz (not sure exact weight) and they are neutral. i have a pair and love them.
For training mileage, I like Nike Free 5.0 (not for workouts, can't accelerate too great.) For workouts, I switch between Mizuno Precision, adizero Tempo or adiStar Competition for track work. Any should fit the bill.

I've run in both the Tarther and Launch and like them both but I like the Launch better. The Launch has a smoother transition and softer soul while the Tarther can be kinda "slappy". It makes me feel like I'm running very flat footed.
The Tarther is around 7.5 ounces while the Launch is around 9.5.

Brooks Launch. I own two pairs of racers and I only race in them. I used the Launch for workouts.

NB 790
I'm wary of the Tarther because it has that gel gimmick. Help me rank these shoes. The ronin has a big heel, the T6 looks good as does the NB 790 but both are hard to find info on or find in actual stores.
How does the 790 or T6 compare in feel to the Racer?

Sorry I forgot to mention why the Launch didn't make my list...its over 9 ounces and too much shoe in my opinion.
I have the Wave Ronin 2's and love them for LT and workouts. I'm working my way to becoming minimalist and am working down from the Brooks Infiniti to New Balance 905. My Ronin's are pretty nice. They're very light(6.8 oz I believe) and have a nice mid-foot strike to push off feel. The wave plate doesn't bother me any like it does in other Mizuno's. I love them and can go pretty far in them without any trouble. Yeah they have a decent amount of cushion but only for a flat if that makes any sense.
Dont go near the Nike Lunar series... the upper has an awful fit. Brooks Launch is prob' going to be your best bet + plus they offer a lot of miles for a lightweight trainer.
I have both the Launch and the T6. The T6 is a great racing flat. Light weight and nice fitting. The Launch is a better fitting and feeling shoe, but the T6 is way lighter. I work in a run store so I get to try on all the different shoes. I don't like the Tarther or the Ronin nearly as much as the two brooks shoes.
