I gotta say I was mildly irritated. But mainly because our 4 and 6 year old were awoken almost 2 hours before they normally rise for the day.
Yes it is extremely rude.
here's what I would do,
I would use a shovel, like a man, in the early morning or late evening hours. I would use the snowblower 9-5.
also, any man who uses a leafblower instead of a rake, is NOT a man.

You're a f***ing idiot. There's a real good chance that the town has noise ordinances that preclude using equipment such as snowblowers and lawn mowers prior to a certain time very likely to be later than 5:45am. Try that in the neighborhood I grew up in and the neighbors wouldn't even bother to put their bathrobe on before they aimed and fired.
Obviously you have never lived in an area where you wake up every morning to a new coating of 6 to 12 inches of snow. Ordinances are fine for lawn mowers where you cut the grass at a time that is convenient, but snow is not convenient. If you have a foot of snow in the driveway, 6 feet of snow piled up on both sides, and 3 feet of dense heavy snow at the foot of the driveway courtesy of the snow plow and you have to get to work, a snow blower or a plow is the only way you are clearing that mess in a reasonable period of time. A shovel doesn't make the grade unless you have an extra hour or two to spend each day using it.
Using a snow blower in the early morning is fine in areas where one may wake up to several inches of snow. People do have to get to work after all.
And who's not already awake at 5:30 AM anyway? Get your arse out of bed, lazy bones!
Yeah....you sound like a captain of industry. I'm certain by now you've reached "power seller" status on ebay....nice work. I bet you're racking up millions selling your used jeans and running shoes.
Go back to bed.
what is hilarious about you is instead of just making an argument you got frustrated and resorted, quickly I might add, to pitiful insults and dismissive assumptions that turned out to be wrong - a truly intelligent man you are - surely if you were the wise old sage that you set yourself up as, you could make a convincing case for your point and reveal to all your experience and wisdom, rather than throw out petty insultsnice one buddy

The lack of a substantive response to you was not borne out of frustration, or the inability on my part to advance a compelling or persuasive argument as to why I think you are a tool. Rather, I elected to rely on your earlier ramblings that clearly laid an adequate foundation for my reasoning. Any additional argument or reply from me would have been redundant and not necessary.
And I'm not your buddy.
Motorcyles are loud too. I suppose you want them banned between 7pm 7am?
Maybe we could all just stay home and be quiet so your kids (who don't have to work, and contribute nothing to society) sleep.
What you can take away from this thread:
1) the OP is a pussy
2) anyone who owns a snowblower is a pussy
3) if your driveway is so big that you actually NEED a snowblower, you are a moron.
As a life-long New Englander, I would definitely say that it is not rude to fire up the snowblower early.
As mentioned before, the plows are loud, people have to get up and out, etc. I have to leave my house by 5:30 - I am certainly shoveling at 4:45 am - sometimes using my ice-chopper to clear ice. Can't leave my wife and kids stuck all day in an unshoveled house.
Be a good neighbor, instead of crying on a post - go talk to your neighbor first. You'll find there is a logical reason for the snow blowing!
Life is full of interuptions and curve balls! If you can't deal with this - God hlp you! What a whimpy example you are to your kids!
Instead of having ateachable moment , like this is what life is like, some times you have to get up early and get with the day!
Your probably one of those runners who would cancel a work out because it's too early or it got too late!
Grow a set!

no way...using a blower that early is BS. shovel if you must...this is coming from a MN resident who only shovels.
also, lazy because we're not up by 5:30am? not everyone works a 9-5 office job. some folks could be getting done with work much later and need that sleep in the early/late morning.
