20:22 I thought I was depressed when I saw the first post, but felt even worse when I saw my time was sub par even in the female thread.
My excuse is I'm old 44 and I just started running 2 years ago
That's good going - you are the same age as me and you are way ahead of me at the moment!
You are in the ideal position, having not run all your life, of still being able to improve. Find a nice flat course and go for that sub 20 (don't forget you have already cracked 20 for 3 miles)
Its very interesting to read of some good marathoners with relatively slower 5km times. Obviously because that are focusing more on the longer distances:
That 2:32 guy - would be well inside the top 100 if he ran the London 2009 marathon. That's good going in anybody's book
Keep up the posting....
17:22, not in a race, time trial on a track, because I used to open a restaurant at 5:30am every Saturday/Sunday. Best in a road race was 18 something.
Remember there are also very good runners who are old enough to be my grandfather/grandmother who have never broken 20.
Ran a 5k a few weeks ago and felt like crap - time was 21+
Few weeks earlier ran 20:26 which would be current PR.
M49 been running 2-3 years - interrupted by injuries and an operation.
still getting faster, 5k and 1/2 I did this year, everything is road
5k 17:50
10k 37:09
1/2M 1:21:18
training to break 80 right now, so hopefully the 5k comes down too
5K: 16:21
10K: 34:21
I'm a 50 year old 200/400/800 guy. I went 18:30 3 miles on the treadmill during a recent rehab stint. So I guess about 19:20 for the 5K.
I think with more base training and road racing conditions I could break 18:00...maybe.
I went 15:30 back in college as a half miler.
20:51 this year.
38 yr old. No speed training. I ran an 8 miler the night before before I ran this 5k with some friends.

haven't been able to run a 5k in a while due to school and stuff. That pr is from almost half a year ago.
Considering i can run most of my tempo runs i can go thruogh 5k in around 17 flat feeling fine, i think i am capable of that.
You don't know me.

Go out and run it before you claim it.
Why would you post something you've never run? Stop making excuses, find a 5k this weekend, run it, and post it. Also post the link so we beleive you.
current time 23:57 while still in base
all time pr is around 17 min...working on getting back there
17:47
17:06 road.
Will be able to run 15:15 a year from now.
18:47 5k
38:17 10k
1:26:40 HM
2:55 Mar...
The 5k PR is pretty piss-poor I'd say...
