The Obama administration and Congress announced tonight that running shoes are being banned because the carbon footprint during manufacturing is too large. White House spokesman, Bill Burton, also said that today's running shoes utilize too many natural resources and the benefits of running and exercise are not great enough to negate the ozone depletion and human rights violations committed during the production of equipment. When asked about this, Burton said "I don't know what the big deal is. We're talking about our planet. Third world countries don't have Nike or Asics. Besides, exercise leads to injury and that increases our medical costs under the new national health care plan. Obama doesn't run, so man-up and run natural."
