One of the dumbest threads of all-time on letsrun. A 1:50 800 type guy has never been seen in the Decath.

What's dumb about the thread? When it was started Beach WAS losing in the junior decathlon, and it sounds like now it is still close.
I think it's obvious Beach will win the 1500 but what will be the scores heading into that event?

Oh damn, Beach crushes Horn in PV, 15-00.75 to 13-01.00. 173 point swing.

One of the dumbest posts of all time. What do you mean by this? Is it dumb because it's inevitable that a more distance oriented athlete will lose at the decathlon, or is it dumb because a 1:50 800 makes Beach so talented that he can't lose? By the way I think the OP was trolling, he posted something about Horn winning the 1500 on the first page.

That's gotta be the nail in the coffin for Horn. Beach leads 6276 to 6060 after 8 events. Even if Horn were to destroy Beach in the javelin to make up the 216 point difference going into the last event...it's the 1500!
junior record for beach (7599), wins by FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY-FIVE points!!!

hahahahahahahahaha
Beach runs 4.07.85 in 1500- equal to about 4.25 mile- not bad after 2 tough days and 9 events- xc training paid off- Curtis is hs athlete of year in any sport.
Horn and Beach will meet again in JR PAN AM games- a few weeks ago Satch said Beach would win most college conferences- Horn was SEC champ this year for FLA. as a freshman so watch next years NCAA, both are great athletes .
just for fun checked Beach against dudes in Senior deca- would have won 1500 by 14 seconds and beat winner Hardee by 'over a minute- Hardee scored 8261 points to Beachs 7599 so Duke multi coach has a lot of work to do for Beach to make next Olympic team.
He has a long way to improve in the throws. I think he scored 427 in the javelin! So, if the Duke multis coach is worth his salt, Beach is going to add a lot of points in the discus, jav, and shot. The only question is whether he'll have to bulk up to do it.
Horn was burned out from NCAA's, it was clear. Not to mention he broke not one.. but two poles during the pole vault. hmm.. that could throw a decathlete off. Explaining his 13'1" jump. After that he runs around a 5 min. 1500 with a 4:29 PR. Give the kid a break. As his friend I could tell he just wasnt ready to come back and go hard just yet. Pan-Ams will be much different.
Oh yeah.. and whats this crap about Ashland University and Ohio State. Let's send the best freshman athlete in the nation to a division 2 school or a program who's future is currently in question. and by the way, mike holloway releases any athlete who does not wish to be a gator. gray horn is and will be a gator next year. F.Y.I.
Whatever, dude. HS Beach > college Horn.
Basically, Alan webb should do the deca. He can at least run a 408

Please. Beach will destroy him next year.
