Colin Cowherd threw a hissy fit over it, pretty funny if you ask me.
Starting off slow is not new to Sabathia. His track record shows he will be the most dominant pitcher in baseball when it gets a little warmer.
The Orioles will stay a few games over .500 to the all star break giving everyone great hope until they sputter the last half of the season and end up in 3rd place.
just remember what every Cubs fan knows, Macphail is spelled "f-a-i-l." But I can't wait to see what Wieters does this year. Adam Jones and Nick Markakis are good young players as well. This team has a long way to go to be competitive with Toronto for fourth.

Not to mention our trio of young pitching prospects who are close to being ready for the bigs and Reimold who will replace Pie if he doesn't produce.
I think MacPhail has done a great job with the Orioles. Tonight should be interesting with the O's starting pitcher from Japan against the Yankees.

Too bad Bob Prince was no longer the Pirates announcer by then. I used to love his home run calls.
Trivia question for "Bob Prince", "Lets Go Bucs" and all other Pirates fans like me who have been suffering through the past 30 years: Name the two Pirates radio announcers in 1979. No fair googling it.

Hopefully the young arms are given time to develop properly, because the last trio of great pitching prospects (Loewen, Penn, Cabrera) didn't turn out so well.
The addition of Pie gives the orioles arguably the best defensive outfield in the game. They can get to almost anything inside the park. Unfortunately, keeping the ball inside the park could be a problem for this starting rotation, especially when the weather warms up.
That is for sure, enjoy.
The O's Outfield is gonna be vicious the next few years, very young and loads of talent... Adam "Not Pacman" Jones in Center, Nick Markaikis in Right, and Pie and Scott in LF. I also have heard rave reviews on the AAA Catcher Matt Wieters, he's rated as the #1 prosspect, over David Price of TB. We'll see if he can snag a rookie of the year.
between these first 2 games, Markaikis looks like an MVP candidate!!!
the bullpen is great, just get that ball in Sherill's hands and it'll be just like the Phils givin the ball to Lidge last year!
I'm glad to see how well all the $314 Million that NY Spent on Teixeria and CC went in game one!

A great question for some. For a boy of 9 years old at that time, I easily remember Milo Hamilton and Lanny Frattere. I'm sure you know Lanny retired. Check out his website if you haven't already. He and his son are selling the original score cards that Lanny used to keep during Buccos games.
Also since you love Prince check out Jim O'Bren's book about him. It's called "We Had "em All The Way."
How bout dem O's !
Looking good so far....two game lead on the Yanks!
I'm gonna lean towards Chavez/Gutierrez/Ichiro for #1 defensive outfield, but O's are right up there too.
I have never heard of the guy starting for the O's today. So far the first two starters look good.
Orioles won't even make the playoffs. Its science.
all they need is a killer on their team. The ravens have one, they won a superbowl (Ray Lewis).
kill somebody + baltimore professional athlete + get away with it = championship.

Simon apparently played decently in spring training but I'm not overly optimistic.

We are close in age then. I was 12 years old when they won that series. I went to one of the series games and the final championship game against the A's, still have the program. I even still have cassettes I recorded right off KDKA of some of their calls of the games. I've listened to the recording of Frattere calling the last out of the championship series more times than I can count
Thanks for the tip on the Prince book. I'm a little out of it with the Pirates these days. My family moved away in the summer of 1980.
Took the second series from Tampa Bay. The O's break out their new road uni's in Texas next.
