McCarthy and O'Lionaird are still u23 for the next two years
The team will be:
Fagan (Might not be 100%, but he'll run anyway, especially after last year)
Cragg (AAI will probably ask him)
Ledwith
Christie
Kelly
Kenneally

what ya reckon any chance of a medal for us at euro cross this year??
lads u23 team could be our best bet.
o'lionard
mccarthy
chessor
o'neill
coghlan
get all them boys fit and they'll grab a medal
Yeah the u23 could be really good, but the French, British and Spanish always have good teams. McCarthy, O'Lionaird, O'Neill, Coghlan and Murphy will all be eligable again next year so thats when they'll medal for sure, could win it even
The AAI criteria for the u23 team is first 3 at Irish Nats and 3 wildcards which means of the 4, McCarthy, O'Lionaird, O'Neill and Murphy, one will miss out even though all 4 are better than any u23 competing at home except maybe Coghlan. Since most of the best Irish u23s do go to US Uni's, AAI should change criteria to first 2 at NCAAs, first 2 at Irish Nats and then 2 wildcards or something along the lines of that. Your thoughts guys?

murphy has never had a sprint finish in his life. he was as wrecked looking as mark christie was during his entire race, during craigs last 800m. everyone was streaming by him sprinting all out, while he was just out of breath, his face as red as a tomato.
aww i nearly choked on my cornflakes laughing, this was so funny, as wrecked looking as christie during his entire race hahahaha, and face red as tomato. lord, i havent laughed this hard in days
keep it up 2012, your posts are hilarious

McCarthy will be the only one selected. Other 3 will have to come home and run the trials i'd say, unless they're running seriously well over there.
In my opinion it should be first 4 at the trials and 2 wildcards. Too often it happens that a wildcard is selected on reputation and puts in a poor performance at euros.

hahahahah are you havin a laugh like?!!! theres no more to come from that waster, thats for sure. ye he was talented as a youngster but since then hes been poor
this summer christie was running 3.55 for 1500m, 1.55 for 800m. more the look and times of a man that was sucking diesel to a delustory effect at the european cross country, where he came 2nd last, or even further back to the european indoors where 8.33 was his time, for the 3000m.
its clear the dcu system did not suit christie, who had so much potential until he was 20. a sure and swift decline has happened since.
its a pity, as he could have actually achieved something good had he gone to providence or iona etc. was more talented than fagan and easily more than ledwith, but their athletic careers are careering in different directions, christies pretty much over, the former two in the ascendancy.

From July this year
13 Christie Mark IRL 13'42.28
and not sure but think he also ran a 7.50 3k
the lads still got the ability hopefully he proves all the plodders on here wrong this winter.
now now, the dcu system had nothing to do with the decline of mark christie, just look at the great success of fionnula britton or bronagh furlong, its all thanks to the dcu system that they became medallists at national senior championships
christie was running quite nicely indeed last year, 7.50 will attest to that. everyone has the odd bad race, look at kaki in the beijing semi final as an example.
there are some very good middle distance runners in dcu over 800 and 1500.
im pretty sure those 7.50 and 13.42 are from 2008, not 2009, where he had a mare of a season
dcu SYSTEM??
wat the f*** are ya's goin on about nelly belly especially..ive never seen one talented athlete leave that place alive!
ok its probably a cheap system thru college maybe??i duno..
but what i do know is that not one young talented athlete emerged frm this so called dcu SYSTEM..look at the facts, or look who it destroyed,Mark Christie obvious one..America wud hv been the ideal place for that boy.
others like Danny Darcie,Eoin Everard,James King,Eoin Healey the list is unendless..these where top top irish athletes entering that place!!where are these poor chaps now??
i bet nobody knows but themselves.
nelly belly obviously a girl or a gay ass fag, f britton and b furlong are goin nowhere what events are they doin like?i cudnt even tell ya..so stop wasting all our time saying sum system is making dese two female posers famous cause ure full of what makes the grass go green in texas..
ps: i dnt want to fight you Monty Jr u obviously hv sense sending ure kid overseas and i wish him the best of luck!
The 7.50 and 13.42 are 2009,go look it up,he's on the road back after couple of disappointing years
wahts the point of having christie run internationally, hes only gonna choke on the big stage and come dead last, just look at euro indoors 2007 or toro 2007 where he was medal favourite and came 45th.
the boy should be banned from international athletics in the near future, as he is a waste of space in those races. he only feels good winning and controlling races, not chasing.
needs a psychologist
Darcy and Christie were very talented, more so than T Chamney and look how far he's come, if he hadn't gone to America, he'd probably still be running 1:50s at IMC races (Im not bumping IMC)
Hope Brian Gregan comes to his senses and leaves DCU!
ther is plenty of emerging irish athlete,u hav chesser and hanrahan who could do a lot of damage if wer put inta good quality races in europe.both guys hav speed, endurance and talent, they didnt hav grants or people helping them out tru out the years unlike christie, darcy and costello.wer r they now,1 droped outa 2 colleges and is now bck running like a donkey the other is playin gaa and christie is jus going tru the motions.hanrahan and chesser for euro cross 2009
Is Darcy any good at the gaa?
It doesnt matter whether Darcy is any good at the GAA he's from Carlow the worst team in Ireland. As part of his training programme Darcy is now training three times a week.
