I'm looking into getting a pair of Asics DS Trainers. I've been in Asics Nimbus for the past year almost (3 pairs). The added cushioning in the Nimbus helped me recover from a stress fracture last year and stay healthy since, but now I'm looking to switch out of them. I tried on a pair of my friend's old DS Trainers and really liked them, but would the lightweight be too much of a transition? I'd like to go with the 11s but I don't think I can find a pair anywhere, so I'd probably get the 12s. Also, I'm going to be doing high mileage training this winter, so I'm going to need something that will protect me, but being that I'm more of a middle distance runner I still want a lighter shoe.
So I guess my questions are:
Would the transition be too drastic?
Would DS Trainers be a bad idea for higher mileage training?
Does anyone have any better suggestions?
