Your dog could easily run 100 miles a day huh? You're not sure the dog could maintain her endurance out to the marathon distance, but you're positive she could run 100 miles a day? Any credibility your post had just went up in flames.
It is all a matter of pace. Yes, most border collies that are bred to heard sheep do run 100 miles a day. They can easily do a marathon as can my daughter's border collie. But that's not my concern. My concern is can my daughter's dog can run at 4:48 mile pace for 26.2 miles to break the men's marathon record of 2:04.
It's not that I don't have creditability. It's that you don't appreciate the huge difference from running a marathon and running one fast enough to break the men's world record. I could bike 26 miles any day in cool weather and my daughter's border collie would easily follow me to run a sub 3:00 marathon. But I'm concerned about trying to bike at 2:04 marathon pace. Maybe the dog can handle it easily and maybe not. We'll try a half marathon first at WR pace.
