Uh, to that childish poster with the all-caps- On what possible basis would you have such absolute contempt for Ian Dobson? Seriously. Ian is one of the class acts of recent years. Whats your problem, loser?

I think not! He is pissed. This dude is pissed. Way nice run! We need to do the trials over!

Well with solid performances of 3:53 and 8:00 in his last couple races, Ian looks to be rounding nicely into mid 13:30s fitness. If he can manage to hold that peak until Beijing he'll be bloody hard to beat.
But Coach Salazar says they're doing gender testing for real at this Olympics.

Initial results were incorrect. Corrected later by meet.
I am glad that my best buddy Solinsky did good and he beat Ian Dobson who is going to the Olympics. Solinsky should be going to the Olympics
I think if Mr. Dobson kept turning in unusually impressive performances, we would have more of an investigation into this Testo Boost and GH Boost stuff. Now that he has "come down to Earth", it might take the heat off of his (and his training partners') "supplement regimen". Plenty of time to go back on the pills before Beijing.
Plus, who cares about the 3rd fastest American 5K runner at the Olympics? Does anyone actually think that 3 Americans can make the final, even if Asmerom or Solinsky were the third? If you can't coast into the top 3 at the US trials, you probably won't last long when the pressure's on on the big stage.

I do. It happened last year.
so dobson has been running poorly...well a 7:41 isn't exactly Olympic Caliber either. I'm as much a Solinski fan as the next guy but i think all this fuss is just for the fact that everyone wanted him to make the team in the first place. well he didn't, dobson did, and bolota is ahead of solinski anyway. let's support USA not just one guy. dobson surprised at the trials, let's just hope he can do it again to make the finals.
I am also a big Solinsky fan,but it is clear that he is not as fit as he was over a year ago.
That year he ran 7:36/37 13:12 and 3:37.x
This year in nice set ups for him, 7:41.x, a 3:40.x and not yet at 13:15.
I was encouraged when I thought he ran 7:37 in this meet, it was actually the 7:41.90 reported.
Dobson's job is to peak for Eugene and Beijing. He did a good job in Eugene so let's see how he does in Beijing. I'm sure he's upset with his Monaco race but he still deserves that olympic spot. Solinsky deserves to watch it on TV. Sorry, but he has to wait 4 years before he gets another shot at the games.

Derek Rubis?? Is that you??
When he ran 13:18 was he not on pace to go under 13:10 til the last lap?
I don't think he is less fit at all. Racing is not in a laboratory setting where you can factor out all unwanted variables. 7:41/2 and 7:37 are not that terribly different and I think the winning time in the previous year was around 7:30 with this time 3-4 seconds slower. Different race setting and tempo.
Seems like he is racing and competing well, so lets see if after the Olympics he can run another fast one. You can't PR all the time and after the let down of not making the Olympics I would say he is having a solid year. Truth be told he probably wants and is ready to go a bit faster, but if it doesn't happen this year I am sure he will be running well in later years. It is really nice to see that he, Teg, Hall, Ritz, and others are continually showing improvements each year.
Is Solinski moving with the new Nike group? or is he staying back in wisco?
7:41 = big disappointment
Yes, running a whole 4seconds slower than his time from last year is such a disappointment. Pack in your career buddy, it's most obviously over for you now.
C'mon...seriously?
If i were paid $250K a year to run, i wouldn't be retruning the favor by running 7:40+ 3k times. Kennedy would have had him by more than half a straightaway in his AR run. At his age, you should be dropping time each year, not getting slower. I really thought we see a 7:32/33 out of him this year.
Did German Fernandez split faster than Dobson en route to his national 2mile record?
