Why? Five words: Nobody likes Mark Wetmore anymore. Not Nike, not his former athletes, not the other coaches, not his current athletes. He is Hemingway out of the closet.
In case you didn't notice, Big 12 Conference was in Boulder, AT ALTITUDE! They stuffed all the distance races with 'high altitude points' that they won't get anywhere else. So, settle down.
Lots of people like Mark! Maybe just because YOU dont like him doesnt mean that everyone hates him. I happen to know that MOST of his athletes like him a lot, tons of coaches like him and alot of the former atheltes like him. Get over yourself!
I like you my pretty.http://www.fast-women.com/photos/ncaaeve03/nceve14.jpg

I love Mark Wetmore. Without him I would never have done some of the things I did. I still follow the same program. He changed my life.
Beating Texas A&M with points in events where Texas A&M won't even qualify athletes to nationals is not especially relevant to what could happen at nationals. CU will not have more than two scorers at nationals in the 5000m and they'll be lucky to have just one or two in the 10,000m and the steeple. CU amassed points (81) in events where 1) A&M sent only token competition 2) they had a huge venue advantage over not just A&M athletes but everyone else's and 3) where no qualifying standard beyond making the team was required to get into the race. Some of their other points sources (e.g. relays, hurdles/sprints) probably won't be in finals at nationals, either, if they even get to nationals. A&M will score less at nationals than they did at Big 12's, but CU will score a whole lot less at nationals than they did at Big 12's.
Well then if CU and Texas A & M are going to score so few points at nationals then who is the favorite and why?
I never implied that "CU and Texas A&M are going to score so few points at nationals," just that each would probably score less than what they did at Big 12. As for "who is the favorite," I wouldn't worry about that until after regionals.
So what if he is unattractive? What does that have to do with coaching? Mark Wetmore is the best college coach for men and women and his athletes have the times and titles to prove it.
And your claim to fame is? Trolling Mark Wetmore every chance you get on Letsrun! Hey, sounds great. Can you coach me? You must be awesome!
Loser.
I know not much attention gets paid to women's running on here, but what was up with the Colorado women at Big 12s? They came in last, with only about five points except for the ones scored by Jenny Barringer. Could they be bad that bad... or did they not show up, for some reason?
I will coach you my pretty.

The women's distance program is really struggling...Heather Burroughs has run them into the ground, and quickly too!
its hard to loose a quality conference meet when you get 1-5 in a single event, lol.
There seems to be an elemental misunderstanding about what it takes to win the NCAA meet here. The results of CU vs. TAMU at the Big XII meet give zero idea as to what the results of the NCAA meet may look like (nor do the LSU vs. Arkansas results at the SEC meet).
Heather Burroughs, another one of those great women coaches that are supposedly so prevalent.
The biggest mistake Wetmore ever made was demoting Jay Johnson, in favor of Heather Burrows. Just cause she is hot in his bed doesn't mean she is a good coach. All she does is destroy those girls mentally and physically. Look at XC...they really only had two high quality girls. Jenny is a freak and Sara was coached by Jay Johnson.
I think it probably had more to do with Johnson trying to be an internet star for Nike and coaching pros.

And with all the talk of Jenny focusing on the "Olympics" too, only for her to get rolled by a rookie in HER EVENT! How the hell she going to make the Olympics if she can't even win her conference meet, let alone get beat by someone who is a rookie at the event and who ran the 10k earlier in the meet.
Jay didn't start doing anything with Nike or coaching any pros until after he was demoted. He is way underrated as a coach.
CU is obviously still a good program, they have achieved good results after Jay was demoted. But if you look at the athletes achieving the best of those results, they were recruited by Jay - not Heather. They lost a couple of great in-state recruits to conference rivals. That never would have happenned if Jay was heading up recruiting. The women are an even worse story, since Heather joined the staff several have transferred and many others are running poorly. They have exactly 1 competitive female - a quick downturn since Heather came up.
