Do you think this could really hurt McCain? With Obama taking a chunk of the independant vote and socially liberal republicans...now Bob Barr could take a good chunk off the right (thinking maybe 5% of mccains votes...).

Not nearly as much as the 100 year war, the credit crunch, oil prices, the rough economy and his own inconsistent voting record.
If Barr's voting record was more libertarian, he would be more interesting. He voted for the Patriot Act and against legalizing weed.

He's reversed a lot of his stances, but it seems a bit late. Do I trust his change of heart?
He also sits on the board of the NRA..I could see this drawing some votes...
McCain is doing just fine hurting himself. Now his campaign has been linked to the military junta in Myanmar.
McCain is lucky Hillary and Obama are going at it. If that race was settled the media would be all over McCain's recent mis-steps.
wow, after reading more on him...he seems like a nut case.
It will take some votes from McCain but not many. Barr won't even get as many votes as Pat Buchanan did when he ran the last time on...whatever the heck he was calling his party.
Good news for Letsrun, which is famously infested by all those Ron Paul-worshiping basket cases. Those supporters should be easy pickings for Bubb Rubb. Only problem is they're not old enough to vote.
Don't forget that he ate the cake Borat's wife made from her own milk. That will win him support from the pro-life whackos.
