How did it taste?
Good actually. I enjoyed it. I think I'll have it with some stew or pour some broth over it next time though to add a little more flavor. It doesn't have much.
Like Ugali.
It's not a bad meal. I eat it once a week or so.
Put something on the side with it as opposed to adding it to a stew. It basically takes the flavor of anything you add to it. My favourite is sukumu wiki which is basically kale with a little salt and tomatoes. Look up some recipes online and enjoy :)
Is it really any different from polenta?
I honestly don't know why more college guys don't eat it...so cheap, so filling...so easy to make...
Did you have mursik afterward?
Ugali is grits, just like at the Waffle House!

You have obviously never eaten Ugali. Grits is soup compared to it.
If you don't strain a couple of arm muscles stirring it, your ugali isn't thick enough.
Ugali is Grits - just don't add as much water dork!

Nope. Same thing as polenta. Same thing as "corn mush."
Ugali is grits -
ugali is from africa, slaves came from africa, most slaves lived in the south, grits is a staple from where? the south! you guys are so damned smart it amazes me!
Not much nutrition in corn meal. Low fibre, low nutrients. Tastes ok if you add a whack of butter and parmigiana and maybe some chives. Call it what you want, polenta, Ugali or grits it pretty much sucks.
how did you make it? Is it just cornmeal and water?

I suggest you take this talk elsewhere, blashphemer!
From Wikipedia:
Ugali is similar to foufou from West Africa, pap from South Africa, polenta from Italy and grits from the southern United States. It is often served as a part of traditional African meals.

I guess not.
You're not a true Kalenjin unless you drink the mursik.
