Well, she ran 4:16.98 and 4:17.24 for 1500m last year. I could see her running 4:15.xx.

yet another reason to hate the NCAA
Do you honestly think Jordan's team of parents and coaches have not deeply checked into the rules? Jordan is an outstanding young talent and she brings a much needed spark to track and field. I'm gald she is competeing and is running in the first heat. When Jordan ran the 4:16.xx she never looked out of control. I bet she goes between 4:12-4:15. Alex Kosinski can prove herself in the second heat. One particular poster is posting as if there is no talent in the second heat. Lauren Hagans from Baylor has run 4:17 and Nichole Jones has run 4:18. Jennifer Barringer is in the second heat along with Jessica Eldridge from Oklahoma and some other post graduate runners. Kosinski will more than have an opportunity to prove her talent. The Baylor girls will not let the pace be slow. I watched Nichole Jones run a very controlled 3:20.xx 1200 split at the Texas relays and if she's up on her game she should hit a pretty decent 1500. Lauren Hagans from Baylor has a kick like a jack rabbit and if Kosinski is planning on using her big kick she will be in the company of others.
I honestly think the second heat will be better for a runner wanting to run their own race. Everyone in the first heat will come bolting out and it will be a chance for some falls. The second heat has enough talented runners to pull a quick pace and it will be less congested.
To the original poster, I don't think a lot of us got the sections we wanted to compete in but I'm making the best of it. If you were to ask Hasay which heat she would prefer I am willing to bet she would say, second. That first heat is going to be blistering and if a young runner is not used to finding their own race in a crowd, they could get lost. Tauro is in the second heat also and as fast twitch stated, Baylor will keep the pace honest...no sit back and kicks without losing a little wind in the process.
I think Hasay will surprise a few of you all!
Tauro is in the third heat.
yeah, just noticed that. She'll be fine...the field is deep.
Tauro should be in the second heat with Kosinski.
What will she do with all that hair. If I was running in a pack with someone who had hair flying everywhere, it would be annoying. Maybe one of the other girls can french braid it on the backstretch. I wonder how long she plans on letting that mop get? Eventually it has to become a hinderance to her. My luck I just haven't seen a recent pic of her and she's already trimmed it back, if so, ha, jokes on me, back to Seville.
hasay will get a chance to see what a world class 1500 meter runner looks like up close and personal. no, i`m not talking about hall. rowbury will dust this field. if she gets a little help, look for her to run 4:05 - 4:06. yes, that is an "A" standard.
I don't think the field is going to blow Hasay away. Hasay has one of those unusual talents that makes her rise to another level when she needs it. Even if she gets blown out, there are not to many high school girls that can say they got into the fast heat at Stanford.
It's absolutely ridiculous Tauro is in the 3rd heat. I'm not saying she belongs in the first heat but please...the third heat :(
So, you have hasay A 4:38 miler (or so) and a 10:07 two miler (or so) against an elite, professional field who have run the equivalent of 4:25 (or so) for the mile, and 9:30 (or so) for the two mile. Oh yeah, let's not forget the 1:58 half milers who are in the field....Please...tell me...what is Hasay's PR at 800 meters ?
Hmmmmm who would you put your money on?
NO BRAINER.....NOT HASAY!
Please get real, you singular hasay supporter who is posting under multiple names with the intention of trying to convince everyone that this high school kid is worthy of national class and world class rankings.....NOT.
Yes, She is a great high school athlete, but she is not, I repeat not, a USA national and/or olympic class athlete.....Please!
I haven't posted here today. Of course, Hasay is not Olympic caliber yet. But facts are facts, last year she got the B standard for the Olmpic Trials in the 1500 and might get close enough to the A standard this year to run in Eugene.
HEY hmmm lets see,
enough with the "(or so)" 's and
YES, it is a great idea to put young talent in a race with elite runners (i.e. Webb) It just might work. hmmm.

People really should know whereof they 'speak' (write). Here are the results of the last indoor meet at Wisconsin:
There are a couple of HS kids on this list competing unattached. Have they been DQ? Have they created a major problem? Are they good enough to attract attention? No, No, Yes (top ten HS marks in Wisconsin, I think for one of them).

10:10 didn't win state (I think he took 4th), but he won state xc (15:40). This was in the smallest division in Montana during the 80's. Schools in this division have less than 100 students.
Are those the all division records? I'm wondering what Doug Brown ran when he was at Red Lodge. I lived in Montana one winter and there was a fellow named Ron Sowers who was quite fast but I'm not sure what he ended up running. Do you happen to know who holds the records?
Another factor about Montana is that there is all summer to train for XC. Then it is 40 below all winter, track season is a couple of weeks and then it's summer again. This is to say there is not as much time to train for track as XC, unless you're tough like Doug Brown. I went out and ran a few miles in the snow, almost froze to death and I was the ONLY one out there.

Here's a link to all of MT's records for track. Shannon Butler holds the records for xc.
http://www.montanatrack.com/staterecords.htmlRed Lodge is in Class B (C is the smallest), and all of Doug Brown's records have been surpassed by Scott McGowan, the state's first sub-4 miler.
There was a runner named Rob Sowers who used to race quite a bit, but I don't think he attended high school in MT.
I have not been posting under other names! I don't know who the other posters are but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think Hasay is good for the sport and I'm sure if asked Hasay would pick the second heat. Being that Hasay is in the first heat if she runs her own race she should have a new pr. No one said she was going to beat the entire field. I posted she has an amazing talent and may just surprise a few.

Actually it is not. Tauro ran 448 indoors and has been struggaling. Not only is it not ridiculous, it's smart for her to run in the 3rd heat. This isn't 2006 when she went 439. It's going to take her a while to get that back.
