yeah just for your information.... hasay DOES have a faster 1500 time than Kosinski.... maybe this explains the heat 1 heat 2 drama everyone is getting into.

I predict she runs 414 and finishes in the middle of the pack, which is pretty sick in and of itself. good for her, now break 10 for 2miles! She ran like 1004 her freshman year, damnit!

That's insane to think about. Our high school record (men's) for the 3200 is 10:10, and it was set by an xc state champ nearly 20 years ago.

It's a very small school in a small state. The 800 record is 1:59.9, and the 1600 is around 4:30. I'm ashamed to say I never broke any of those records while I was in HS.

10:10 didn't win state (I think he took 4th), but he won state xc (15:40). This was in the smallest division in Montana during the 80's. Schools in this division have less than 100 students.

No way he ran 15:40 for 5k if he has 10:10 "speed" on the track.

That 5k pace is faster than his 2 mile on the track pace. Maybe just maybe if it was a 3 mile he ran 15:40, but that still seems far better than a 10:10 2 mile.

i dunno. that 2mile is about the pace of the 5k per mile. many people are in a lot better shape during xc than track so i can see that happening. plus, he may just not like track enough to race/train well

That 2-mile is actually slower pace than the 5k. I've never heard of anything approaching that sort of discrepancy between xc and track fitness. If he ran 15:40 on a normal course than it would probably be worth 9:30 or faster for 2-miles. Even if he ran it on a absolute speedway of a course it would still at least be worth 9:50. 15:40 and 10:10 only make sense to me if the xc course was 2.9 or 3 miles or something or he was injured during track season.

You guys over analyze the sh!t out of everything.

XC is 3 miles, but courses aren't always accurate either, so maybe it was 2.95 (do the math now you dorks). Or maybe his time in xc was 15:48 and not 15:40, how would that change your analysis? I know for a fact he enjoyed xc much more than track, so he was likely more driven and in better shape for xc.

These type of posts suggest that somehow the story is fabricated. My question is... why would anyone make this story up?

I hope she does well. These races are not ones that typically are enjoyable for high school runners. Have to figure this kind of field will be running at least 4:10 pace, and it is not easy for a high school runner (even an accomplished one such as here) to hang on and run her own race. But if she can hang on, it clearly is way for her to get better and improve.

The obvious answer is that the 10:10 wasn't all out. Maybe that was all he needed to run to win, or maybe it was run on a day where he was on this second or third event.

The 10:10 took 4th, the 15:4X won state. The fact that 3 people beat him during track season would indicate that he wasn't in the same shape during track as he was during xc.

The original point (and only point worth acknowledging) was that Hasay is so fast that she could hold the men's record at some schools.

My senior year of high school, I only managed a 16:54 5k during XC, but ran a 9:46 3200 on the track.

My senior year of high school I ran 15:36 at our State XC meet (3 mi course). That year in track I ran a 10:17 in the 3200. It was my only 3200 ever.
