Ed Eyestone - It's good to have an announcer who has walked the walk. He isn't the smoothest announcer but I think he does a good job. What do you think?

He's better than Switzer. Her voice is like nails on chalkboard + she made a career out of getting pushed by Jock Semple years ago.
I'd rather have Joanie do the women's commentary. Who's that Alice woman who did the commenting from the media vehicle? Ugh.
Eyestone is the freaking man! He knows a ton and really does his homework
I like him a lot. He can talk about competing on an elite level that is easy to understand. He obviously follows the sport closely and knows the field before he gets on the mic...
Ed is the man! The networks and ESPN should pick him up to help with all the Meets.
If only Eazy-E (Ed Eyestone) would grow back his flowing mullet and goat tee from the 80's, he'd get more visual coverage. But when you've got a face made for radio, what can you do. He really did do a great job though. And he actually is quite handsome...without the mullet. Keep the goat tee.
It's like anything else on tv, even though they go for the pretty/handsome faces, having someone on who KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE TALKING about makes all the difference.
The same thing could be said for education: having a teacher how knows the subject can be incalculable.

I don't think I've ever seen a goat wear a tee. Was that in a Gap commercial?
But we need someone to talk about leg turnover and laps on a track equivalency and how shoe weight is equal to 3.5 slices of bread.
I'm sorry but I'd give Ed a C-.
He has a bad habit of stammering and going off topic, which is a very frustrating habit when teamed with Al. He really needed to be the running expert providing insight and support to offset Al's incoherent ramblings. The way it turned out is that they both were providing color commentary that contradicted each other.
He was ok...but one thing was kind of pathetic when he started saying that Magdalena wasn't sponsored blah blah blah, when it was obvious that she was with Transports (especially since she works there). I'm surprised they didn't have some research guys scouring for info to feed him given that she was in the lead for so damn long.
typo, i meant since HE (Richie) works/owns there.
uhhh I think it was obvious he meant any MAJOR sponsor. As in, she's not sponsored by an asics or a nike like many of the professionals are.
Usually, you don't get someone who has a shoe store sponsor as someone who gets 2nd in the trials....
Frank Shorter has always been great either working in the booth or out on the course providing commentary.
And since someone mentioned having a face for radio, Frank looks good on TV. Face it, he has the best hair.
He did fine. And you can't fault the man's credentials: I saw him in S.F. on several occasions on XC and marathons--the guy was a powerful runner.
For the sake of argument I think that he made some inane comments and I happen to be a Shorter fan for that post, bu I'll take Eyestone any time--knows from whence he speaks and does it well.
