Seems strange to me that some think it's weird. Sad comment on our society, when someone can't take a shower without being labelled a weirdo.
Honestly, the showers were the best part of my day and the aspect of practice I miss the most.

Ah, the good old days without political correctness.I went to an all boys school and the highlight of the workout was often the shower because we blocked off the drains and slid around on our asses until the janitor came in and chased us out.
Guys at my middle school used to do this in the showers after gym class. One memorable gym teacher used to yell, "If you're going to go sliding around bare assed in the shower don't come crying to me when you get Athlete's Crack."
We also used to slide around in the shower, kinda like a slip
n slide. A whole bottle of liquid soap made the floor nice and slick, but the best part was that you couldn't stop, so you would slam into the wall, leaving a big red mark on you
This is f*ing sad. This is what Amber alerts and sex offender lists do to our national pscyche. It screws everyone up.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the coach showering with the team. As a young guy back in the day, I probably wouldn't like it. You know why? Because it would be harder for us to screw around and make trouble. And, actually, from the school's standpoint, that's a real good reason for the coach to be there.
Showering with the team shows that your at the same level, not elitist or superior. It shows that your part of the team and normal. What has everyone got thats different from the coach anyway?
Get normal man!
You're not supposed to be at the same level as your coach. There is supposed to be a heirarchy. That's why he's the coach and you're not. And I sure as hell don't want to take a damn shower with my coach. WTF
That is so Nancy! You guys are all fvcked in the head! The United States is so messed up that it is comical.

There are a couple guys that shower in their shorts.
the guy is only guilty of poor forethought. any adult that would allow themselves to be naked in front of children in this day and age is really setting himself up for bad bad things.
instead of going to his boss, could you say something to him? i bet this could get him canned. the fact that it's at practice makes no difference, he might as well have walked into the classroom buck naked.
No way he could get fired for this. It's a culturally accepted practice, particularly for an older generation of men. Besides, nudity is not intrinsically sexual. Only context makes it so. If someone reported him, he would be told not to do it anymore, and that's it.

It absolutely should creep you out. It is entirely inappropriate. I was sexually abused by my high school coach and the showering thing was one of his things.
Do exactly as "adult" said - tell the AD or principal.
I'm truly sorry that you were abused. Nobody deserves to be violated or made to feel uncomfortable BUT nudity should not make anyone feel uncomfortable. Nudity does NOT equal sexuality.
As a coach, I would shower after only because I am aware that it might make younger students uncomfortable, but agree with those who say that the whole American culture is so out of whack over stupid little things like the length of anyones penis.
On our basketball team the guy with the smallest unit was the first and loudest to make fun of everyone and everything, including his own 2 inches, and lo and behold nobody made fun of him because he was the first to laugh at himself. All the girls knew and he got more action than the rest of us. He was able to laugh at himself and he was happy. There is a lot to be said for that.
should it creep me out that my coach gives the whole team happy ending massages after every workout??? He said it was normal, now I am wondering.
here's what you do. Next time you're in the shower with the man, make a few moves on him. If he responds, run away screaming, but most likely, it will make him extremely uncomfortable, and he won't ever return to the shower.
Either way you win.
I would not want to be the guy explaining to the Principal why I thought it was a good idea to get naked with a group of boys age 15-18. When your big defense is "I never touched anyone." You are already fighting an up hill battle.
In a day and age when male teachers are told to never allow themselves to be alone with a student in their class room getting naked with students just doesn't seem to be the best practice.
This is all so sad, this obsession with homosexuality among American kids.
I feel as if I came from another culture, not just another era.
Kids who think they need to wear oversized shorts for fear of looking "gay" . . . afraid to shower with each other . . . afraid to shower with their coach . . .
Does this fear persist into college? Do college athletes now also wear their sweaty gear home before showering?
Guess I was just lucky to have been a kid in this country in a better time.
A. If you have morning practices, and you have to go to school after, showering there is much easier.
B. Our coaches have there own facilities in the next room, hell the walls are thin enough we normally all talk, if your team is close, and you all like your coach, and theres nowhere else for him to go, theres no problem, if there is somewhere for him to go, its odd, no cause for alarm though.
C. This thread taught me a lesson I will never forget. Always click "show link" before clicking a link on letsrun. That is the most F'd up wiki link ever.....

I am in high school and my cross country team showers together after every practice in the fall. It is almost ritual and we look forward to it every time, because we too clog the drains and slide around on our assholes. We share a locker room with the soccer and tennis teams, and they look in and just see more proof to back up their theory that we are all gay, but we really don't care because right after we get done they go in and spend 30 seconds in their boxers like a pussy getting soaked and we laugh at them because we put on dry, clean boxers after our showers.
We don't shower after track practice, except for in the beginning of February, when we had 2-a-days that began with 6 AM morning practice in our fieldhouse. We didn't want to smell at school all day, so we all would shower after the morning workouts. Our CC/distance coach would never shower with us, but the pole vault coach always would, because he worked out in the morning. He was told not to by our AD, but did it anyway. We really didn't care, just thought it was funny and kind of weird. No one was offended or reported him.
When I was in high school we would only shower in the mornings during cross season when we had morning practices, and a lot of people wore speedos, only a few were completely naked. I'm now a freshman in college and everyone showers together, naked. I knew this was coming, and was fairly nervous on the first day, but then I realized it's not really a big deal. I now enjoy showering with the team.
