All good and nice, but why wouldn't they prefer to come by their accomplishments honestly? Then again, this is the America we have today, complete with grade inflation and all that other crap.

They are coming by their own accomplishments. I mean most college, high school races don't have rabbits and the fast pace is made by the kids who compete in them. There's little difference between sitting on another kid in the race while they make the pace and then pulling away for the win and sitting on a rabbit. I don't see why the former would be more honorable or whatever you're trying to say.
The people not advocating rabbits are silly. You've obviously not tried to chase a qualifier on the east coast. What coach donner has done with this meet is amazing. It was my favorite place to run on the east coast for sure. They want to give the kids that cant make it out to stanford and mt sac a chance to really go fast. They can save the boring tactical races for ncaas...
Um, with rabbits it's not a variable going in, it's established that certain runners will lead through certain points in the race. It's not spontaneous, it's canned, it's lame. I do find it amusing that the poster above me would call tactical races "boring" while defending rabbited affairs. Nothing is more boring than a time trial, get a freaking clue about what sport and competition mean, kid.

You should tell that to SebCoe, Ovett, Walker, El G, or any other person to set a world record in a distance event. I guess none of those were honest though.
And WHY exactly should I do that?
Lol, "kid". YOu've obviously have never run fast enough to be concerned about needing a qualifying time for a championship event. Or maybe you were soooo fast it was never a concern. For us mere mortals we need as much help as we can at attaining these time standards. If you are in the northeast, running fast times is even harder because of the short season/weather.
A meet like bucknell is not for the spectators, its for the athletes. Anything less than thanking coach donner for holding an event like this while providing rabbits is unacceptable.
To put it in language you may understand, "the times they are a-changin'... take er easy "old man".
I can give you a 9 flat 2 mile.
You must miss a LOT of obvious things, Hyde. If you want to be hard on yourself about it, fine, but spare me your idiotic assumptions and accusations. I couldn't care less about what someone like you deems "unacceptable." While dumbing-down and softening standards may provide apparent benefit for those who don't really have what it takes, such as those who graduate from Ivy League schools unable to communicate coherently in writing or who need more than 4 years to get a piddly BA, I consider it equally "unacceptable." Deal with it, slacker fatbody.
LOL.

WAAAAH! The race at Bucknell which I'm not going to participate in will be too boring for me should I happen be around to watch it! BOOHOOHOOHOO! This is why Americans are lazy and the sport is dying and it won't get any media attention! WAAAAAAAAH! Blah blah blah not real competition blah blah get a clue blah blah blah blah.[/whine]
yeah, i guess i didnt have what it takes. I tried my best and sleep well at night knowing that. I really like the Bucknell meet and appreciate the opportunity coach donner gave me to run fast.
A few side notes, it takes plenty of people 8 years to graduate college. You're boring and old and obviously compensating for something. Yes, I am 30 pounds over my racing weight. Most girls prefer it.
Kisses,
Bruce
Ps. I don't hide behind screen names and pretend to be an internet tough guy. Maybe, you wouldn't feel so comfortable about slinging insults if we all knew YOUR name.
Yes you do. You are an Ivy Leaguer, you can't be stupid enough to believe that you've been up-front in posting as "In_Ithaca" or that anyone and everyone would know who "bjh" at Cornell would be. I don't need you to know who I am so my ego isn't concerned about being slighted by some dick who thinks he's cute and has delusions about what the "girls" of Ithaca like. Yeah, I'm boring and old and compensating yet you're trying to bait me into telling you who I am. Jesus, dude, I met an Ivy League babe today (Cornell class of '97, no less) who'd be embarrassed by you. Get on with your thrilling future as a bureaucrat already.

Cool story Hansel.
"I met an Ivy League babe today who'd be embarrased by you?" Are we supposed to be impressed? Or was that an insult? Some girl you met today wouldn't like an alumnus? Oh snap! You really showed him! You are bad ass.
wow dude. stop drinkin the haterade.
Um, no, I was saying that she's incredibly accomplished and did indeed say that she's embarrassed by college graduates, especially from the Ivy League schools, that she encounters in professional life who can't communicate effectively in writing. She cited examples of colleagues confusing there, their, and they're, as well as your and you're, plus here and hear. This was coming from a freaking aerospace engineer, too, not some humanities snob.
typical letsrun post. coach donner puts on a fantastic meet at bucknell giving the east coast guys an option other than travelling 3000 miles to chase times at stanford and there's actually people complaining about it? you've gotta be kidding me? for those asking about wind, it might not be blocked, but for the past few years, as soon as the sun goes down, the flags get still and the temps are in the 50s dropping to high 40s by the 10k. perfect weather, good fields and some rabbits provided if necessary. chasing times is part of track. that's why there's qualifying times. you can race tactically at the conference, regional and national meets.
Typical letsrun apologia post.

You realize this is the internet, right? No matter how hard you argue, nobody will take you seriously. Get over it and move on.
You're a typical letsrun douchebag...
Bruce, I remember you pacing the 10k a few years ago. I hope all is well.
Better than being a sycophant, "white room".
