GRIZZLY BEARS IN MAMOTH LAKES?

Actually the bear has inverted the whole altitude "live high train low" paradigm so that instead of living in Oregon and sleeping in an altitude tent, he lives in Mammoth Lakes and trains on a treadmill in a "sea level" tent. Nike is tagged the bear and is following closely to see if he can hold his max vo2 pace of 35 mph for longer times than before beginning this experiment. The ramifications are mind boggling.

It was a grizzle, fo shizzle.

For some reason, I find this thread hilarious.

It is more probable that Ryan shooed away a Grizzly Bear than Moses communicate with a talking Bush.

Chuck Norris eats Grizzley Bear meat for desert, but really, the last known Griz to be taken out of the CA woods was up in Trinity County. There's a pic of it in one of the downtown restaurants in Weaverville. Just to set the record straight.

Just like Jaguars being found in Texas and Arizona.

I'm going to have to side with Ryan on this one. I was recently out in Mammoth Lakes doing my 30k tempo run when all of a sudden, around the 23.5k mark a large bear of some sort jumped on my back. I was really hurting so I was positive that it was a grizzly bear but the little old lady I was running with said it looked more like a Pomeranian. There is no way that thing was a Pommy (I think she's senile).Lucky for me that I had a cell phone in my fanny pack (right next to all the water bottles and under those Goo packets) so that I could call Ryan and let him know that he’s not crazy.

That'd be a fine theory if we had any reason to believe the CA borders are not impermeable.

I was recently on a cross country long haul passing through Bozeman, when a large ursine individual, probably in the 1000-1200lb range, was hitchhiking along side the road. He stuck out his paw with no apparent opposable thumb on it and I slowed down. He growled to me, "Can you take me as far as Lee Vining?" I said, "Sure, hop in." The last I saw of him was when he hopped out of the cab in Lee Vining and growled, "Where is the best place to find obese snowboarders? I'm ready for a good meal." That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Nah. Jaguars in AZ don't have far to wander, there are stable populations in Mexico. They have suitable habitat all the way to southern AZ where they have been found.

A grizzly would have to get from MT or WY to CA. Very unlikely. Bears are not travellers like wolves or mountain lions.
