A recent issue of Sports Illustrated's letter to the editor section questioned Ryan Hall's claim of "shooing away a grizzly bear." while living in the hills of Mamouth (sp?)Lakes, CA. The writer was from CA. and claimed that grizzlies were last seen over 20 years ago in that area.
Maybe it was a black bear, as they're pretty common across the country and can have brown fur.

This calls into question all of Hall's times. If he so easily lies about killing bears, how can we believe his race times? I mean did anyone actually SEE him run 59:43, or are we just taking his word for it?
There have been Grizzly Adams sightings reported recently.
I've seen a bear in Mammoth. I was driving in a bank parking lot and give chase in my compact car. The thing ran rather fast, must of been scared of my hatch back.

Hall thought he saw a grizzly bear, but what he actually saw was Tammy Thomas doing a workout before her morning shave.

Wait, you mean Ryan Hall isn't an expert on bear species and may not know the difference, by sight, between a Grizzly and a Black bear? I find that shocking.
