Why don't we have a lot of young officials in our sport?
Partially because the USATF and such are "old boys clubs" and it's tough to supplant all the very very old officials (who must've at least started at a relatively young age, in theory).
I do enjoy seeing younger people involved behind the scenes in the sport. From starters to announcers to field event judges, any new young blood is important!
because i went to a track meet last night and wished i were somewhere else.
yawn... track meet... lots of noise and blank faces... yawn.
i'm a usatf official. and 23. so there you go.

Indoor meets, especially big ones, are more exciting than outdoor meets in my opinion. Smaller arena so you're closer to the athletes, and if you have a good announcer he/she can really help add to the atmosphere. Not that they can't in an outdoor meet, but you notice them more indoors.
