So I got the flu last Friday and now, Wed. night I'm starting to halfway feel better. Fever up and down, no appetite. Totally sucked for x-mas. Anybody else had the flu? How long should I wait before trying to run again?

Do you know it is the flu or just assume it is because of the symptoms?
I would go for a 2 mile walk and put in a few jogs in between here and there to test how you feel. If you feel alright then go for a easy 3 the next day and build up from there.
Best time to get injured is to go all out right after a illness.
I got it last Thursday night and got hammered by it all week. I felt pretty miserable on Christmas day as well. I jogged 6 miles today and felt really weak since I've barely been able to eat anything. Just take it really easy if you do decide to run at all.
I had the flu (probably a different strain) in March. Had six degrees (F) of fever and, for the first time, had some genuine intimations of mortality. If this is anything like that, you have my total sympathy/empathy. It was a bear.
After that experience I finally caved and got a flu shot some weeks back. No adverse reaction (thank goodness), and I'll hope it protects me against whatever you all have--not all the vaccines work.
Take care of yourself. Feel better. Be *very* careful about vigorous exercise when sick, because some viruses can attack the heart muscle.
Ouch, no advice, but I got nailed with a really bad cold 9 days ago and now I'm just starting to come out of it (maybe - every time I think I'm feeling better, I start on a pitiful coughing fit). Sore throat, runny nose, and (by far the worst part) a perpetual nasty cough.
Got what was probably the flu last Saturday, but caught it early, beat it up with plenty of vitamin C, olive leaf extract, chicken soup, and sleep (would have thrown in some zinc gluconate, too, if I had any), and was feeling most of the way better by Monday night.

Flu? no

What about a rabbits foot and a wing of bat?

Sorry, I prefer things that work.

'Twasn't a cold. Colds don't give you headaches and aches in the other parts as well.
one benefit...it resets the body
i think Seb Coe had the flu about a week before he
set the world record in the 800.
Yes colds do that as well, although it will depend on what cold you have.
On the other hand it is possible to catch the flu and fight it off pretty quickly. This is probably less to do with consumption Vit C etc than it is to do with previous exposure to the same/similar strain.
I got the flu, too. Mine was all vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. I dropped from 150lbs to 138lbs in FIVE DAYS!!!! But I'm back running immediately despite feeling week and I actually hope to keep the weight off so I can be light as a feather for a half in late January.
