Let me start off by saying that I love this show, and I think that what they do is really cool.
Tonight was the finale episode where they all weigh in for the last time, and the person who has lost the largest percentage of their body weight wins $100,000. They also show the workout regimens that the contestants have been doing to lose all their weight. The problem is that these people are all doing tons of weight lifting, and some of the guys have ripped arms.
Why would you be lifting at all if the goal is to lose as much weight as possible? Why would you show up at the weigh-in with ripped arms when that muscle could keep you from winning the cash? One guy was only 5 POUNDS away from winning. I understand that other people have different perceptions than I do about what a healthy body looks like, but the terms of the competition are simple: lose as much weight as possible. If I were on the show, I would just run a lot and do my best to look as much like a skinny distance runner with little arms. Maybe $100,000 isn't enough incentive for them to look like weaklings.
