What redundancy? Can't one's torso appear abnormally small?

I saw this ad in a major sporting goods store today and laughed. All I could think about was Letsrun humor.
I love it when kids speak with mock authority.
Listen up knuckle heads...have you ever heard of a photo shoot? Clearly the bib is photoshopped, but who cares? Both Kara and Adam are proudly displayed in all Sports Authority Nike departments, and both were clearly set up. I'm surprised you failed to notice the pictures of Nick Symmonds as well.
P.S. Nobody but nerdy-ass runners would give two $h!t$ about whether Kara Goucher has represented the US at World Cross, or if her bib really came from USATF Outdoor Champs. Every customer in the store just thinks the Gouchers are models and their only concern is getting some cheep dri-fit stuff for their out-of-shape husbands...in an attempt to get their fat asses out the door on a run.
Get a life.
This is such a dumb thread. This happens all the time....WHO CARES!! She took third in the world, I think it is ok for her to wear a USA jersey imposed or not.

All ad photos are photoshopped.
You are 100% correct on this. We call it re-touching. This is done in magazines on models, products, art --- etc. It's to get a desired look. Present something in its best way.
You will rarely see something that size with a photo taken from an event. Maybe in a print ad, but often times resolution isnt what it needs to be for larger pieces. When something gets blown up, it doesnt look the same as it does when it's small. In a controlled environment, you get everything you want. Simple, clean....

As for the \"whitespace\", it says Indianapolis, IN at the bottom so it\'s probably from Outdoor Nationals this year.
No - I meant the space above where it says Indianapolis...it is definitely from Outdoor TRACK Nationals. I just was curious if it was the bib she wore during the event which would have had a K. Goucher in that whitespace.

Is it just me or is her torso longer than her legs?

You definitely got fooled by an optical illusion. The lighting from the camera phone picture draws your attention and accentuates the upper body. Also, her legs are bent in a running motion. If you look closely and use elementary investigational skills... you'll see that it is just an illusion. Here let me help... 1. use your pointer finger and place it at her shoulder 2. place your thumb from the same hand just above her hip. Now, here comes the tricky part. 3. keep your finger and thumb the same distance apart and slide your hand down the picture. 4. rotate your hand so the index finger is on the hip and your thumb follows the diagonal of the leg 5. notice where your thumb is nowhere close to her foot 6. realize you were suckered by an illusion and failed to investigate the matter more closely. Looks can be deceiving.
She looks like she's suffering with that pesky thyroid again.
I'm sure the school photographer never "photoshopped" the zits off your face.
They should have enhanced her figure while they were at it, get her up to at least a b-cup.
