Running Boston for the first time this April.
What is the best way to get ready so I can handle the hills come race day?
- do hill repeats? If so, how often? Hard up, easy down? Hard up, alternate hard and easy down?
- run the hills hard every now and then when out on my regular runs? easy or hard on the downhills?
My easy runs and the course I do my MP and tempo runs are pretty hilly. Right now I am leaning towards choice #2. Don't want to have my already tender achilles act up.
I know the Boston downhills beat your legs up. Just looking for the best way to get ready for then as well as the uphills.
Any advice from the Boston vets would be appreciated. Would hate to have a good training cycle but leave out the hill aspect and not have a good race at Boston. If this helps my PR is 3:09 at Columbus. Looking to run sub 3:10 again at Boston.
