yes, you are confusing them.

i was told that the big ten network was trying to get time warner to pay it the same as a premium channel while offering it on basic cable. i'm assuming nfl network exec's are doing the same thing?
it's probably more the fault of the nfl network than the cable companies. i don't blame time warner for not wanting to pay a channel more than any of it's other basic channels. if the nfl really cared about being available, they'd be fine being paid the same as an espn or fsn.
before i'm corrected... "its other basic channels."
Do local stations in the market have the option of picking up the feed and airing the game? I could have sworn the other day I saw an ad on one of the channels here that the Bears/Redskins game that will be on the NFL Network next week (I think) will be carried here in Chicago by one of the local independent stations.
i think the falcons/colts was available in atlanta, but i wasn't in town for thanksgiving.

the nfl has always done that for the local markets of games on cable, dating back to when games started appearing on espn.
Tony, you should probably be at the game Sunday and not worry about if it is on tv, but that is besides the point. The NFL network is worthless about 90% of the time in my opinion. Sportscenter shows you everything that you need to know, although I guess it is kind of nice that they show the games in an hour during the week. But by then you already know all the highlights.I think before the season started the networks bought certain games and the NFL network got some as well. Before the season started I think Green Bay was seen as a bottom of the barrell team (I think they were picked to get near last in there division) so this game was probably not expected to be a barn burner.I could be wrong though.

Maybe I am confusing the NFL network and the Sunday Ticket? I do have a NFL network station, but it seems to just be talking heads rather than actually showing games. I will double check....

But doesn't it still ahve to be a sold out game to lift the black-out restriction?
Nevermind, it's the Bears AT Washington....
The NFL is the most lanced league of all. I stopped watchin any games, I don\'t even watch the Super Bowl snymore.
No one has seemed to mention that these very same cable companies wanted to have the NFL Sunday Ticket available, but when the Dish Network paid big $$$ for exclusive rights to it, the NFL said f you to the cable companies. Now the NFL comes to these same cable companies and asks that the NFL Network be put up for some large amount of money per subscriber and put on a basic tier. Is it any surprise the the cable companies said f you right back?
Don't worry. They'll make a deal and just fold the cost into your new slightly higher rate. It will not be that much, so people will keep paying. Once you get them started, they usually don't stop.
Hey, guys, I'd just like to point out that Sky subscribers in the UK or Ireland (and the rest of Europe, I guess) will be able to see the Cowboys-Packers' shootout live on Sky. Final score, after quadruple OT: 58-64.
What's that you say, it's sudden death OT? Ok then, it must be a tie: 0-0.
I see Comcast is mentioned several times. At least you have to option of paying for the NFL Network in Comcast. You don't even have the option with Tim Warner Cable which is the major calbe company in several areas of the country including NY. It royally sucks!
I have comcast in northern cali - it's not included on basic-tier packages. I agree with chuck d to an extent about if you're a football fan, you should get the cable package that allows you to watch football, but it is silly that it's not included in basic packages.
I'm sure it will be next year. Comcast didn't have the mlb package for the first few days of the season and responded to a huge outcry from fans - wonder of wonders, 2 days later one was able to get the mlb package.
if you pay taxes you're old enough to go to a bar and watch
but i understand what you are going through, my cable company back in NJ wasn't going to carry the SNY (Mets' network) in 06 because they felt there wouldnt be enough interest. We started a petition of people saying they were willing to switch to satalite and we got THOUSANDS of signatures. They gave in and carried the network.
I think the only thing to do is boycott the advertisers and tell everyone to do the same. Maybe they will get the message!!
