All These old, stale arguments on here about runners VS non-runners got me thinking today. I think that the runners who make it their point to choose who is or is not a runner do so because of how indispensable running is to their “self.” In other words, is running something you do, or does it define you? Of course every runner, in one way or another, refers to himself or herself as a runner. But does it shape who you think you are? Does it do so, more so than say race, class, religion, profession, personal history etc…? If so, then that may be why there are so many runners out there who draw a line in the sand. Whether you Gallo-walk or not, run 7 minute pace or not, I don't think it should matter. There are so many different kinds of running, why can't they all be valid?
Anyway, That’s just my deep thought of the day. Well maybe not that deep, just deep for my dumb ass.
