I wasn't going to post about this, as I already spend too much time on LR as it is, but I just came back from a night run and had to share what I keep seeing around this city. So I'm doing one of my normal loops through Jamaica Plain and decide to hit up the pond and go through the Arboretum and almost run into some woman walking around the pond with an IPOD and headphones on. Keep in mind, there are no lights and its so dark you can barely see the path itself or the people walking/running as well--never mind all of the tree roots and potholes scattered everywhere.
With all of the assault stuff on the news about girls getting assaulted while running at night on local trails with headphones on, why does some of these women consistently ignore the warnings? Now I was probably more afraid of her than she was of me (I'm not going to jail for nobody), but what if there was some pervert out there looking for some trouble. She would have been an easy victim.
Ladies...please take the headphones off when running at night in parks and trails. I guarantee you your head won't explode without the music blasting in it. Don't be stubborn...be careful.
