'Cuse
Cuse is better and they should go since they beat nova twice and indiana only beat michigan once... correct me if im wrong
Cuse only beat Nova once at Big East. They beat Princeton twice, which doesnt help them either. All Indiana appears to have beaten all season is a troubled michigan squad at conferences who then had 6 in front on their second at Regionals. Syracuse definately would have a higher RPI. Wait...wrong sport.
OK, I was counting the fact that they finished higher in their race at pre nats and had a faster average time. But I guess technically that doesnt count.
It sounds like from the research others have done and reading the handbook (http://www.ncaa.org/library/handbooks/crossCountry/2007/2007_d1_cross_country_handbook.pdf) that Syracuse are tied with (#2) wins against teams already in the meet (1 apiece), (#3) tied in head to head competition (none), (#4) tied against record vs. common opponents.
So, I would presume it comes to (#5) top individuals on team under consideration.
In that case:
Indiana -- 5, 21, 25, 26, 34 = 111
Syracuse - 9, 11, 25, 26, 61 = 132
Unfortunately it looks like what should be an objective decision will become subjective because there is some mushy language under #5, but it seems no matter criteria you use, Indiana gets in:
- Top runner (fifth place vs. ninth place)
- Total points (111 vs. 132)
- Matching up runners 1-5 (2 wins for Indiana, 1 for SU, 2 ties)
ohio state pushed in indiana i bet.
I'm not sure, but it looks to me like when it came down to OSU and Stanford, they just took them both instead of breaking that tie...and then IU with them????
IU wins, 74-73, Keith Smart hit the game winning jumper with 7 seconds remaining from the left baseline while falling out of bounds. Alford had an amazing game to lead the Hoosiers and the entire Syracuse team collapsed on him on the final possession leaving the opportunity for Smart to be the hero. Bob Knight is celebrating on Bourbon St.
ill never f***ing watch hoosiers again... carmelo could take jimmy chipwood anyday
It's Chitwood...you idiot!
