I am probably pissing in the breeze here, but I feel this needs to be said.
Ever since this forum was founded people have used it for many things, not least among them to say incredibly cruel and unnecessary things about fellow runners. Both Ryan Shay and his wife Alicia have been victims at one time or another of forum drive bys. I'll be the first to raise my hand and admit I have been guilty on occasion myself, but never again.
In the light of the recent tragedy at the trials and the loss of Ryan Shay, I'm asking this community of runners to take a step back and think about what they are saying before they hit that "Post Message" button. There are real people at the other end of your internet connection with real feelings, and they do read the nonsense we write here.
The pictures Alicia Shay posted are both beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. She has shown amazing grace and strength of character sharing them with us given some of the things that have been said about her on this forum over the years.
People are asking if there's a way for the Letsrun.com to remember Ryan Shea. I think there is. Remember him every time you think you are being witty or clever saying something cruel about another runner on the forum.
Peace.
