Are you joking?
Sorry man, but quite possibly thee worst movie I have ever seen. It really demeans distance running and makes a complete farce of it. No fourteen year old kid who never ran can start training and win the Boston marathon in a year and randomly do workouts like 5xmile in 4:45.

Of course not...you're such an idiot, he only took 2nd! Which is totally possible to do in that scenerio.
so then I shouldn't watch it???
Its goofy...kinda funny, but really about running. I watched it in a Theology class
I thought it was a cute movie. The kid is pretty likeable.
I found his running form to be annoying, but you end up rooting for him when he runs Boston. Keep an open mind, and you might actually like it. (Although you would probably need to be a sensitive guy to enjoy it.)
meh, it was ok, it was pretty laughable, but it was entertaining
I enjoyed it and have watched it a couple of times. It is a fun movie that is very inaccurate but fun to watch because it invovles running. Just don't take it seriously. I had a special interest in it because it was located in Hamilton, Ontario and I have run all three of the actual races that Ralph ran. Heck, in the time frame that it is supposed to have taken place, no one under 21 was even allowed to enter the Boston Marathon.
It was filmed partly in my town and I was in the Boston Marathon scenes as a runner and a spectator. I got to duke it out with the kid in a couple of scenes. Lots of fun and I got paid for it. The director was Mike McGowan who ran marathons around the 2:16 range. Won Detroit once.
I'm biased, but I liked it. It was fiction of course, so if you accept that fact, then you should be able to enjoy it.

Actually, it was 20x1 mile. I liked it. It's not meant to be a documentary.
Mike McGowan ran 2:18:11 in Detroit in 1995. That time may still put him among the top 45 Canadians on the all-time list.
Great little movie. Good story on not giving up and going after your dreams. Well done.
Solid movie, and very funny at parts.
It's a pretty good movie.
i've seen it, about as much reality as Star Wars i'm afraid. It's a bit disneylike, kid lives on his own, crap runner turned
elite marathoner in 20 weeks, religion in there as well , in
fact it's a sort of Home Alone parody with running, except that the kids mum is in a coma and he believes that winning the boston marathon at 14 or 15 or whatever it is will bring his mum round.
I liked it. It's a feel good movie, and it's about running. If you decide to take it seriously, you will probably hate it. If you watch it for light entertainment, you might enjoy it.

As someone else has already pointed out, it was not meant to be a documentary. But then someone probably had to clarify for you that Lethal Weapon is not an accurate depiction of the job of an LA cop.
I've seen plenty worse. Sappy and stupid in places, but worth a rental.

I hated it too. But even worse were private scenes of a kid, that I'd assume not see.
