ya i go to fullerton and the smoke is really bad...and they shut down live 5 freeways around the OC as well.bummer.
my dad was in rancho bernardo and was evacuated to qualcomm in san diego and said that a quarter million were evacuated in SD alone. He said the fires were around the wild animal park but apparently they have some fire protection system. Also a hospital had to evacuate hundreds of patients and doctors. crazyness. At least my dad is doing good he said it was like a tail gate party in the parking lot and was like "We need beer!!!!!" haha
I am glad the animals in the San Diego Wild Park will be okay. That is a great place to visit.
They had to evacuate prinsors in Irvine.
Smoke is thick. It was a like a giant black cloud you would see in a movie last night. I cannot believe I saw some idiots running in those conditions last night.
The local paper has updates. Looks like no trail running in San Juan for a couple days. And the airport sounds like it is having problems.
Power is out at John Wayne Airport this afternoon and travelers are stuck without lights, flights and any direction. "Sheriffs are just walking around aimlessly," said Shelly Roberts, who was waiting for a flight to Las Vegas. Power went out at about 2 p.m. and there have been no announcements for passengers and staff appears confused, Roberts said.--2:25 p.m.
Fire danger has shut down the city trail system in San Juan Capistrano. Citing the dry trees and brush, officials ordered the trails closed by 3 p.m., and said they likely will stay closed until the end of the week. --2:20 p.m.

-then i can unequivocally say that you are NOT a real runner. I am sincere when i say that. typical letsrun poster. probably worrying about your garmin or headband or something.
-"When a person trains once, nothing happens. When a person forces himself to do a thing a hundred or a thousand times, then he certainly has developed in more ways than physical.
Is it raining? That doesn't matter. Am I tired? That doesn't matter, either. Then willpower will be no problem."
Emil Zatopek
I can safely say that you did not see the smoke and ash coming down. It would do you no good to you to run in those conditions. It felt like I was eating cigarettes just walking around.
It is nothing like running in the rain. I bet the couple people I saw running are feeling like shit today.
3 golds from the forest / E. Z. is well beyond clueless. He should try running on a treadmill in a small room filled with chain smokers. Runners who run in smoky conditions will be hacking up black snot for days. I know, been there done that. Guess what black snot means? Your lungs are lined with black soot. Simple.

The top 5 went to Arizona until the air quality is good again.
Blah. I ran there yesterday- no black in my lungs today- did a hard 8 miler this evening on PB. Of course, we have now gone down to stay with my sister's family in La Jolla. They say the house will likely be lost- we live up on Marquez if you're familiar with the area. I have my family, my longboard, and my shoes...we'll see if that becomes my sole earthly posessions....the hard run tonight cleared the mind and helped put it all into perspective...

Ummmm PB is nothing. San Marcos is on fire. Turn on the News bro.
You're weak. There are no fires anywhere near PB. Be strong. Go run in Eastlake, about 1/2 mile downwind of the fire, and let us know how great you felt when you get back online.

can you idiots not read? I RAN IN MALIBU YESTERDAY. i ran a hard 8 miler today on PB! and whaddya know? my lungs are fine. amazing! what a bunch of jokers!
You're double weak now. The fires in Malibu only cover a very small part of the coast. All of the smoke blows out to the ocean. Be a real man. Stop being lazy. Be strong. Go run at Pepperdine for one hour minimum at you NORMAL training pace. Then be like a troll and write back. Hack the black out of your lungs first.

Yeah, but it ain't gonna happen 'cause God loves the South. 'Cept N'Orleans, of course.
san marcos is in san diego?! seriously? when did that happen? are you f***ing kidding me? read the whole thread and then figure out the responses for there. and what's up with the fires "covering only a bit of the malibu coast"? have you been around topnga recently? were you f***ing there on Sunday? you guys seriously need help- both in reading comprehension as well as mental toughness. you are pretty weak minded. the point of this whiole thread that i was trying to get across is that a real runner runs no matter what the conditions because he NEEDS to. fools. i'm done with this site. i have enough negativity in my life right now. confirmed this am that the house is completely gone.
