30th Richmond Marathon, that is
shameless bump
im gonna run the 8k.
I'm actually typing this from Richmond (back for my 20 year reunion this weekend). I signed up for it last year, but injuries have prevented me from properly preparing, so I will be a DNS. I am, however, running the Ashland 10K tomorrow morning.
20 yr high school or college? My five year is coming up lol. I went to Hermitage, yourself?
First marathon ever, so I don't want to underestimate the distance. Shooting for under 2:33.
Richmond has a pretty slow course, lots of hills. Sub 2:33 would be spectacular on this course for a first time marathoner. Good luck!

B.S. - it's a very easy course.
truly gently rolling
I'm running it and need 3:35 for a BQ. Planning on running with the 3:30 pace group.
Aiming for 2:55 - my first time there.
Ran 3:07 last year, aiming for sub-3 this year.
I'm going out with a 3:10 in mind. If I feel good, I'll bump up my pace. My legs aren't so hot right now.
i'm leading the 3:00 pace group if you interested in joining us - aiming at slightly under 1:29 for the first half
if you ran 3:07 in the last year's heat, sub-3 shouldn't be a problem if it's cool

Godwin, class of 1987.
I think my coach at Hermitage would have been racing you at hermitage in '87.
Joe Pardue? I remember the name, he was a couple of years behind me. I think I beat him head-to-head the couple of times we met, but he was younger, and he got real good after I graduated. My brother was the same year as Joe and went against him lots of times over four years, I think Joe got the upper hand most of the time.
I went to the school website and I see Craig Hedley coaches the girls. I knew him as "Mug" and actually went to several summer practices with him when he was coaching Jim McKeon. Jim ran a 3:56 mile in 1985. We would "run" with Jim during his repeats (meaning he would blow us away and we would come straggling in). It's good to see that Mug is still coaching.
I also went to school with Joe Coulter (class of 1988), Chris Rollison (class of 1986), and Stacy Palkovics (her brother was my year and I spkoe with him on Saturday night), all listed as faculty on the website.

I'll look out for you. The last few miles in the heat last year were pretty brutal--I'm hoping for better weather.

i was too hot from the Lee Bridge on... and it only got uglier those last few miles.
i'll be in the start corral just a few yards back from teh line/chip mats with a big "3:00 Pace Team" sign - i should have 6-10 guys (and at least one young lady) with me at the start
Are you the same guy who led the 3:00 group last year? My buddy ran in that group last year.
