seriously, a quarterback whose almost 40 and a team chocked full of rookies. Could someone please explain how it is that they are 5-1?

well, they won 5 games, and they lost 1. That makes 5-1.
In all seriousness though, they have confidence, and sometimes teams without all the "talent" play with more passion, which wins games
Well, Favre may be old and he certainly isn't as great as he used to be (that thumb injury a few years ago really screwed up his throws), but he has been around the block a few times and you can tell he brings a lot of energy to field. He really cares about what he's doing out there and wants to win.
The rookies aren't too bad. Their defense was absolutely terrible last year (and the year before?), but they seem to be figuring it out.
I'd just like to see Favre go out on a good season, regardless of what that means. If it's a superbowl, that's great, but if it's a winning season with a few records, that's cool too.

Well, they\'re not 5-1 any more. Winning season assured; buckets of records, with more to come. Happy yet?
Hey, capitalistic America, the ONLY publicly owned sports franchise, based in the smallest \"market\", is gonna win the SB, and if you-know-who comes back (again) it\'ll be back to back wins.
The REAL question at this juncture is: Can anyone stop the Packers doing a threepeat?
i admit, i thought at best they would be 8 and 8 this year so i am very pleasantly surprised. for a team with no real running game they are doing incredibly well. playing the cowboys is going to be a big test and may well decide who gets home field for the playoffs.
favre is dropping hints he will be back again next year. i dont think anyone could reasonably argue that favre is not the league mvp, if the voting were held today.

Favre is having his best season ever and is hands down the biggest surprise this season. But that QB up in Foxboro is having one of the all-time best seasons in history... QB rating of 134 (record for a season is something like 121), 38 TDs and only 4 INTs. That's off the charts. But personally, I'd rather see Favre get the MVP she doesn't have the line, the receivers, the running game, or the youth that Brady has.
*she = since he
I left out the word "since" before "he" and as I started to type it, I accidentally ran my thumb across the touchpad on this new computer and posted. Didn't mean to refer to Favre as "she"

Whaddya mean, he doesn't have the receivers? Driver may not match up with Moss, but Jennings is better than Welker and Jones matches up well with Stallworth. That still leaves Martin and Robinson.
Running game: Grant is averaging 93.4 yds a game over his starting streak, which is 3rd best in the league.
The line has youth and experience.
And how about that undrafted guy, Tramon Williams? He has a serious set of wheels.

no question the other guy is having a great season. however, even with a lesser qb the pats still win a boatload of games, without favre, the packers have losing season. favre is doing a lot with very little. and he has to do it passing over and over. imo, favre is much more important to the packers success than brady is to the pats. my 2 cents.
no question however that brady is just outstanding.
this is a good take on it.
