I love the Mizuno Idaten flat, but is there enough there to make it 26.2--I'm running NYC.
My alternative is the Saucony Fast Twitch Speed or my training shoe the Mizuno Precision 8, which has more cushion but less of a good feel.
Advice anyone?

Don't know much about the Idaten but I train in Precisions and do marathons in the Fast Twitch. They are great for me. They're light but I don't feel like my feet are taking a beating. I weigh about 150 lbs and run around 2:40.
I ran the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in the Idatens two weeks ago. I did all my marathon specific workouts in these flats and they felt great for everything I did, including the race itself. Have a great race!
I'm 5'10.5" and 143 lbs.
Thanks for these thoughts. I'm 5-11 148lb, hoping to run low 2:30s. I will give the Saucony flats a whirl in a quickish ten miler tomorrow, and then see how I react. The Idaten is a great option though...
I was in the same boat before Chicago last weekend. I use the Precision 8 for training and I was wavering between them and the Idaten for Chicago. I ended up choosing the Precision.
Well, besides the marathon being a complete disaster for me (I dropped at the half), I wish I would have worn the Idaten - the Precision felt too bulky and heavy during the race. I am running another fall marathon and plan on using the Idaten. (FYI, I'm almost exact same height/weight as you.)
JBM - I hear you're running Jax now. I'm in and I'll be wearing the Itaden. Wore them at NYC last year and they were great.
If you saw any pictures of Josh Cox from his OT qualifier, he ran his marathon in Idatens.
Oh and FYI - I'm 6'1" 152 and shooting for 2:32.
Thanks for all the input...
Just had one of my last more intense workouts before NYC (5 in the morning, 13 in the afternoon with a solid 10 miles in 54:35), and gave the Saucony Fast Twitches a go. Not bad, but a little rigid on the back of the foot (my achilles is a little achy). I will give them one more chance on Monday's workout, but I think I am going to go with the Idaten--for sure not the Precisions--I like them but too bulky.
I ran Chicago in the Itaten and had no problems. I would run a 20 miler in them before race day.
