so you never made a dumb decision when you were young? you mustve been the perfect child then am i right. no mistakes, no wrongs ever? wow your pretty perfect man.
Hmm... yep: made plenty of "dumb decisions." But, strangely enough, never any *illegal* decisions. Indeed, I generally avoided doing things that I knew to be illegal, and generally avoided those who did not.
Even during my time in the military--among a fairly rougg, but strangely law-abiding crowd--we obeyed the law.
Have I been drunk? Sure: but never got behind the wheel (which has meant some pretty long walks, btw).
Have I stolen anything? You mean from other than my sister when I was a boy? No, no I haven't.
Done drugs? Um...no, no I haven't.
Been in fights? Oh, yeah, but the MPs were fairly lenient (and no one got killed).
And lest you think my life has been a bore: I have, at various times, been a motorcyclist, a hang-glider, a skydiver, a scuba diver, a combat soldier, and have even raced (privately owned) cars at Watkins Glen; I have traveled on foot through Mexico and Latin America (and was not arrested), and vacationed in the Middle East (and, again, was not arrested).
In fact, no one I know has been arrested (or at least mentioned it), not even those soldiers I know who are a bit..."edgier" than I ever was (said one SF operative: "I get paid to do what I would be doin' anyway").
So: prisoners "rights?" Couldn't care less. If you have proven that you cannot "play nice" in society, then you should be removed from that society. Buh-bye.
Drug dealers for friends? Bud: you need to reassess your life.
Rehab? Sure, I believe in rehabilitation, but I more strongly believe in "three strikes you're dead...er...out." And my "opinion" would not change for fellow, friend, or family--cuz some things are just plain RIGHT and others are just plain WRONG.
Feel free to disagree but, like it or not, breaking what society has determined to be "laws" will eventually land you where you cannot hurt (or even, one hopes, inconvenience) the rest of us.
Have a nice day.
